I am looking for Hans Henrik Hanson, bor 4/18/1847 in Skee Sweden(on the border with Norway). A Hans Hanson appeared in the 1880 census for Dunn Co WI that was the right age. In tracking him backwards through your post here you said Fillmore Co MN. I found this birth record: Henrik Martinis Hanson born June 8, 1872 Arendahl Twnshp, Fillmore Co MN. Father Hans Hanson age 23 and mother Anna Hansdatter age 29. Both born in Norway. I tried to find out where they were living in Arendahl township and found 2 Hans Hansons who owned land there. One in section 4 turned out to be too old. The other in section 1 I was not able to find out enough informaton. This one owned 12 acres. I don't know if this Hans Hanson is the same as mine so will probably have to find his death record in WI to get his exact birth date and see if they match. On the plus side, since my grandfather Carl (Charles) Martin Hanson and his brother Hans Henrik are really the two names for the oldest son of the Hans in Arendahl I am mildly optimistic! In a few weeks I hope to go to WI and check the death records. I will find out if we are cousins! I noticed the birth date is one month difference in the birth record but I think we probably have the same Henry M Hanson--just I don't know if he is my relative. This makes the search fun. Russ Hanson

He was born about 1847. Also his father Hans Olson or Oleson, not sure of the correct spelling, his wife's name was Kari. Came to the USA in about 1846 and was 84 yrs old in the 1880 Census, which would have put his birth year around 1796.

See I can't find Tom Pickard's parents, I have no ideal, where to look, except I know he was suppose to be born in Iowa. But he married a Thurston up in Wisconsin. Do you know if your Charles has any connection to Iowa? My e-mail address is k9two_fee4@hotmail.com, and maybe we can figure out something about the Pickard's up there. I have hit a brick wall with Tom and Dunn County.

This is right before the major CASSEL migration to Eau Galle, Dunn Co, Wisconsin. In the newspaper article, Mrs J CASSEL is Melvina Amanda (Vine) NAGGLES CASSEL. She was the wife of John Hamilton CASSEL and my father's grade school teacher, although at the time he didn't know she was his great aunt and that they were related. It was never discussed because of the circumstances of his father's birth. The Roy CASSEL information which I will send to you is the Joseph Wylie CASSEL branch of the family. Susan -- Alice -- Susan Aice -- Alice Susan CASSEL are all the same person. She is my great grandmother and the mother of Forest Henry CASSEL WOOD (my illegitimate grandfather). A year ago we had little to no information on her and we've made tremendous progress. We have never seen a picture of the CASSEL children and my father would be ecstatic to see a picture of his grandmother (Alice CASSEL). We have no idea what they look like or if we have CASSEL physical traits. Do you think you could scan or make a copy for us? Please let me know, I'm glad to cover any expenses. Thanks! Kathy

Do you have your CASSEL genealogy database on-line where I can look through it? I'd love to match our information. Remember, my "public" genealogy database is on WorldConnect through RootsWeb at the following address: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=kcgoodman I found Roy CASSEL (or he found me?) on the Internet. I connected with him last summer and he sent me a typed genealogy for the CASSEL family. His great, great grandfather was Joseph Wiley CASSEL. I've found inconsisencies in the data and yet it also provided many answers. If you email me your mailing address, I'll send you a copy. My direct email address is kcgoodman@msn.com. Carol BISHOP is also a CASSEL researcher and she has lots of CASSEL information on-line through Ancestry.com. I've tried to research the Wayne Co, Ohio records on line with little luck. I think this one will require a road trip. I have two branches on my mother's side who also came through Ohio so it will not be an effort lost. I too believe Jacob G CASSEL came from Wayne Co, Ohio and that he died in Eau Galle, Wisconsin. His wife, Jane NOLAND CASSEL, died in Iowa and is buried in Bethel Cemetery, Mallory, Clayton Co, Iowa. There are no other CASSEL family members in the cemetery. I was not aware of a RAITT family connection to the CASSEL family. It may be an interpretation of the RAITZ name, but I'm not sure. Is the CASSEL/MEIER book by Jim MEIER published? If so, would you provide me with the information? If not, would you tell me how I might obtain a copy? I'm happy to pay for all copying costs. Thanks for the info, let's keep in touch Kathy
