Her great great grandmother was Sarah Moyer, born 1866 in Dunn County. She's on the 1870 and 1880 censuses with Daniel and Barbara. Thanks for noting Daniel's death date. I'm going to request a copy of his death certificate and can forward one to you if you like. I have 2 questions if you don't mind. 1. Do you know when Barbara died? 2. How many kids in total did Daniel have? Thanks alot. Kelly L.

Daniel was the son of Philip Studebaker and grandson of Heinrich Studebaker who came from Solingen, Germany, to Pennsylvania. Daniel moved from Ohio to Indiana where he lived at Marshall County, and from Indiana to Jackson County, Wisconsin. Many of his children moved to Wisconsin from Indiana, including Abraham Wyland Studebaker and John Wyland Studebaker. Wyland comes from their mother, Nancy Hoover Wieland/Wyland Studebaker. Other than the census information available for John F. Studebaker, I have no information as to his wife or children. 3. The Goodchild surname was also anglicized. Alfred's original surname was Malenfant ("bad child" in French). So he changed it to Goodchild. Alfred Goodchild was from French Canada; he married Mary Bykle, the sister of my great-grandmother Tena Bykle Allram. They lived in Vanceburg in Dunn County.

She is right about the name change. I live in Wisconsin and have not come across any of the siblings you mentioned, altho the name of George and also Violet were used by Joseph's children. Was Lary Drinkwine born in France or New York State? I wonder if he and Joseph were related, altho we think Joseph was born in New York State. You may respond to me by e-mail if you wish.

He was born in 1813 in New York State, according to what we have found. His father may have been Peter Drinkwine, or Pierre Boivin, supposedly from France. Could he have been a child of your Franch family of Drinkwine? Was Drinkwine the actual French name? We were told it was Boivin.
