    3. Our deepest sympathy to the family of Jeremy Wolfe, formerly of Colfax, who was killed Saturday in Iraq. http://www.leadertelegram.com/story.asp?id=34311 Father: Soldier loved Army <staff.htm>Pamela Powers Menomonie News Bureau MENOMONIE - Jeremy Wolfe loved the Army and took great pride in serving his country, his father recalled this morning. After being in Iraq for just over a month, 2nd Lt. Jeremy Wolfe, 27, died Saturday when two Black Hawk helicopters collided in the Iraqi city of Mosul. Wolfe, 27, served with the 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment. He was one of three Wisconsin soldiers killed in the crash. He loved what he did,David Wolfe of Menomonie said of his son. He was an officer and a gentleman. He was very proud of what he was doing for his country. He will be missed dearly. Jeremy Wolfe wanted to go over to Iraq to be with his fellow soldiers and felt this is what he had trained for, and it was part of his job, David Wolfe said. The 1995 Colfax High School graduate was deployed to Iraq Oct. 4. Jeremy Wolfe attended Menomonie High School during part of his high school years. After graduating from Colfax he went to UW-Stout for one year in fall 1995. He then decided to join the Army, his father recalled. He also was part of the National Guard before joining the Army. He enlisted and went to Schofield Barracks in Honolulu in 1996 and for two years went through airborne jump school training. He was a highly motivated young man,his father said. He enjoyed the Army a lot. I guess you could say he found his niche. He was always trying to help his fellow soldiers any way he could to make them better individuals. His son received a military Green and Gold scholarship to attend Hawaii Pacific University, where he earned a degree in computer science in 2002. He also was one of 30 soldiers in the nation chosen around 2000 or 2001 to received officer training in England. Jeremy Wolfe attended flight school at Fort Rucker, Ala., and in June was stationed at Fort Campbell with the 101st Airborne Division. He married Christine Tadeo in February 2002 in Honolulu. She served in South Korea with the Army for a year before recently returning to Fort Campbell, David Wolfe said. Jeremy Wolfe's mother is Jane Utpadel of Wheeler. His sister, Sharla Utpadel, 24, of Sand Creek, said this morning her brother loved to fly. It was always what he wanted to do was fly Black Hawk helicopters, she said. It is all he ever talked about since we were young. She regularly talked with her brother and exchanged e-mails with him, Sharla Utpadel said. He kept telling everyone not to worry that he was fine, she said, her voice breaking with emotion. He was excited about going. It was what he was trained to do. Dunn County veterans service officer Duane Bauer said this morning he was saddened by the deaths of Wolfe and the other soldiers. "Life is very precious," he said. "Any time a life is lost it is a tragedy. When that life is given defending our nation and protecting other nations it is the ultimate sacrifice and honor one can give." Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family and the many families facing this very tragic time. Willis Dix of Menomonie said Jeremy Wolfe worked for him haying a couple of summers during the mid-1990s. "He was a very good worker, pleasant to be around," Dix said. "They didn't come any better."

Since my post here 2 days ago I have found Selmer Loe, wife Nora Luella (who apparantly went by the name Luella, not Nora) and daughters Mildred & J. Lorraine living in Sparta, Monroe County. This still doesn't explain what became of the elusive Bernt Jensen, but hopefully someone will respond on the Monroe Co. board regarding the Loe family and then perhaps that will lead me back to Nora "Luella"s father and siblings. By the way, are you the same Linda that does the Norway board? Great, useful site!! Thanks again, Jinger
