Unfortunately, my mother hasn't got so old. I couldn't get to know my father because he already died in the 2nd World War. The cause of our search was my granddaughter, she is Lena and should report about the emigration behavior to the family in the English lesson. My daughter Katrin did genealogy concerning the different Familiezweige for years. We please and move very much over this one words of encouragement on our enquiry. Does anybody have an e-mail address from the family Sagstetter? We would like to exchange photos! Pleased family Wolfgang Blank

Her husband, Matt, died years ago. The ten children are Alfred, Anita, Lester, Lois, Rita, Jane, Robert, Jerene, Diane, and Yvonne. Les died in 1994--he was married to my sister, Mary. I think all the rest are living. You probably could get more information from Rita. She is Mrs. Jimmie Bosley, 2680 Powderhorn Ridge Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48309

Solberg, age 50, salesman at general store, is listed in the census, living on Stout Street in Menomonie with wife Elena, age 45, and daughter Olga, age 19. She has had 2 children and 2 are living. Daughter Gena was quite likely married by then. It says Peter emigrated 1870. Elena emigrated 1874. In the 1910 census, widow Lena Solberg, age 55, is living with her daughter Olga and her husband John Nordenfoss in Barron Co. This could be your Peder O. Solberg emigration record: http://129.177.200.200/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=EMITROND&variabel=0&postnr=2025&fulle=true&spraak=e which says that Peder Ols. Solberg, age 18, emigrated from Soknedalen (Sor-Trondelag) May 12, 1868 via Qvebek. The Soknedal bygdebok doesn't enlighten us any further since it only says that this Peder Olsen Solberg, b. 1850 went to America in 1868. (III-434). Four of his siblings also emigrated - at least one to Menomonie (Ingeborg, b. 1835 who married Ole Johnsen Froset and emigrated in 1867). This Peder Olsen Solberg was the son of Guru Nilsdotter Solberg, Osphaugen, b. 1813, d. 1888 - 2nd marriage in 1849 to Ole Olsen Aasenhus, Borstu, b. 1819, d. 1894. Farmers in Oppstu at Solberg, Soknedalen. If this is the correct Peder O. Solberg, I have many generations of his ancestors in my database.

One of the pics shows John and a team of horses pulling a float with the sloagan " The Liberty Bell Proclames Liberty From High Price at The Racket Store", note the misspelling. On the back it says "John was one of the floats in the Knapp St. Fair". Another pic shows a group of people standing outside a store that I believe says Lelepley Racket Store, but it is very hard to make out. I am trying to date these pics, and I am guessing that they are around 1918 to early 1920's. Any help on a date, or a location for the store would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    3. Mary, Isnt that funny ?? Such a short obit in the paper. This man is suppose to be the founder of Graytown, and that still didnt matter as to the lenght of the obit! Kinda like the "little ditty" for David Conner, founder of Connorsville.. just a short little ditty. (Not many more words then what you found for Aaron Gray) The newspaper reporters were obviously "men of few words" haa haa. Thanks for your time in doing a look up. I appreciate it! Jayme :-))

Gray - Graytown for a person who contacted me through my website in Newton County, Indiana - Kathy Gray - she was seeking information on her great-great-great grandfather daniel gray, who lived in our County in 1868. Her great grandfather was William J. Gray - whose brother was Aaron - and I am sure that they traveled together to Wisconsin. I have a bit of information that kathy sent me - perhaps you know her. Just trying to put together a family history for my county historical society newsletter, and finding out what I can for her. She said she didn't know much about William J. - thought I would see what I could do - I guess this is destiny! Hope to hear from you soon!
