Surnames: Ordemann, Goerke Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFC.2ACI/457.3.1 Message Board Post: God morning from Duesseldorf, Germany! >From Shiloh Herrem I got some poor details about the Ordemann/Goerke family last year. I put it into my world-wide Ordemann/Ordeman database but left it off my (German language only) homepage www.genealogienetz.de/privat/ordemann. I couldn't find any link to any of the other larger branch of my family so far: Johanna O. married Wilhelm Goerke (both from Germany). Their daughter Charlotte Dora G. was born 13 Nov 1862 in Wisconsin, died 19 Aug 1909 in Spring Brook, Dunn, Wisconsin, was buried 24 Aug in Forest Center Cemetery, Dunn,Wisconsin. She married Robert Deloss Cummings. Do you know more about the Ordemanns in Wisconsin and elsewhere?

If this connects, Johanna is my great-grandfather's grandmother. I believe she was born in Bremen, Germany about 1841. William Goerke was born about 1823 in Mecklenbug, Germany and died on 5 May 1907 in Menomine, WI. I'm just getting started, so I haven't gone back any further.

    2. ANNETTE DAHL
    3. Hi, I am Annette Dahl and attented the Best Valley School from 1944 to 1950 when I graduated from the 8th grade. I have my mother's scrap books and in one of them there is a news article from 1951 with some history, a picture of the school and a picture of Mr & Mrs Thomas Beaverson who were old settlers in Best Valley. There was a Virginia Best in school the same time as me, she was older than me. She is the daughter of Ted Best, she had two brothers, Ted and Bob and one sister, Hazel. Alonzo Best was a teacher at Best Valley. Some of the early teachers were Margaret Olson, Emma Wagner, Mrs. Goetkin, Ella Wagner, Ruth Jenson, Della Canfield, David Talor, Agnes Picher, Geda Fadness, Fred Cutura and Gertrude Best. The first school was a log building built in 1868, it was used for three years. The school Best built in 1871 burned down in Feb of 1948, when I was in the 6th grade. The unused Schindler school was moved to the site of the old school. After I left in 1950, I do ! not know how many years it was in use. The school is gone now, do not know what happened to it. At the time I went to school, I lived about a mile from school toward Downing on Q. Some early members of the school board were Albert Krosnoski, A L Best, J A Brook, Henry Kussrow and James Shepherd. The article also mentions Lycargus, brother to Alonzo, and an Angeline Best born in 1840. Alonzo Leon BEST and Cora May BREWER husband and wife were parents of 6 known children including Gertrude Irene BEST, Alonzo B. BEST and Theodore Grafton BEST. 3. Theodore Grafton BEST and June Eunice EARL were the parents of Robert Earl, Theodore Alonzo, Hazel and Virginia. Thanks again.
