We have contacted the county office and have received the plat map for the property. Grandpa had been paying taxes all along and we are now doing the same, a whole $6 a year! Since I posted my query my husband has been able to find the property (the first time he didn't have the proper map and the county office was closed) and said it's all swamp. There goes our dream of a home with a view of Lake Superior..haha.
