These were docks built around the Great Lakes. My husband's great-grandfather worked for such a company back then. The only company name we have is the Mead Morrison Manufacturing Co. based out of Chicago IL. Other places where he worked on docks were Fort William, Ontario Canada, Duluth MN, Ripley MI & Hancock MI. We're not sure if he worked for the same company in all these locations or different ones in each locality. The one built in Canada we know was a coal dock. Thanks for any help that can be given.

Isaac died sometime between 1920 and 1927 and Ellen died in 1927. They had 12 children: Harry, Thora, Emily, Frank, William, Elizabeth, Adeline, Mary Ann, Charlotte, Jack, Josephine, and Woodrow. The family lived in West Superior for about 35 years, and I suspect that some of them still live there. I would like to make contact with them because we are organizing a reunion of the descendants of Ellen and her siblings this summer in Canada. We've been able to contact all the families except this one. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

He also played in a band (have a photo of the band.) They had sons William, Edwin, Evertte,Harry Harold. Their daughters were Grace, Alice, and Evelyn. The senior Andersons are buried at Graceland. I want to thank some unknown people for putting flowers on their graves. The last time we were up I was happy to see flowers and knew it was from someone outside of the family I knew. Mom had cousins there however I never knew their last names. If they see this thank you. You are wonderful. We live so far from Graceland, or I would visit more often. If anyone has data about grandfathers store or the band I welcome news of it. Thanks

Hello- I am trying to help a Norwegian friend find an ancestor. I hope that someone can help. He is looking for Karl Rikard Johannesen who probably changed his name to Johnson when he came to the US. He was born in Norway on April 21, 1877 and came to the US in 1909. In Norway he worked as a tailor, but came here to seek his fortune so may be working in another capacity. The family back in Norway has a couple of cards from him dated from 1910-1917 that were postmarked in Superior. I have looked in the 1920 soundex, but cannot find a match. I have tried to look through the 1910 census for the city of Superior, but have just about given up--talk about a needle in a haystack! Is there anyone who would be able to check the City Directories and see if he is listed? Or, any other resources that might be available? Thank you very much, Kirsten
Hello List Would anyone on this list perhaps live in or near Maple? Could you please contact me privately if you do? Thanks, Connie Aho
Hello List! I am making the Douglas County GenWeb site available for a new volunteer to manage. http://www.rootsweb.com/~widougla/ You will find information about what's involved in being a coordinator at this site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/volunteer-pages.html I also administer the Douglas County mail list. It is preferred that the same individual manage both the web site and the mail list. If you are interested in becoming the coordinator for the web site, please contact Tina Vickery, SC, WIGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/ at WIGenWebProject@aol.com If you have any questions about either the web site or the mail list, please feel free to contact me. I will be available to assist the new person in getting started. Thanks! Linda Schwartz lschwartz@mindspring.com

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZFC.2ACI/482.1 Message Board Post: If you think the marriage was in Douglas County, Wisconsin or any Wisconsin County, check the pre-1907 birth, marriage and death index. Most counties in the state have a complete index of the state and the actual document (it is copied from the actual document) for their county. I believe that the index of marriages is indexed by bride and groom. (If this is not true, would someone please let us know.) If you don't live in Wisconsin, you could ask someone to check the index for you. Please remember these are the marriages that were registered, and not all marriages, birthes and deaths were registered at that time. Many birthes, marriages and deaths were only recorded in church records and were not registered with the state. Good Luck with your search. :)
