Does anyone have a copy of the yearbook for old Central High School? My father and his brother went there. Tom and Bill Jepson I believe Dad graduated in 1939 and Bill in 40 or 41. Dad use to say he fell out of bed and walked across the street to school. Their mother Lillian Metzger Jepson Bales use to work at the Evening Telegram, from 1926-42. Thanks, Gale Jepson Hanson Seminole, FL

St. Joseph's Hospital was located in Billings Park, I believe about 19th or 20th and Lackawanna Ave. St. Francis Hospital was in East End on 4th and 23rd. And then there was St. Mary's which was located on about 1100 and Weeks Ave. Hope this helps. Jackie P.S. What month? I was also born in 53 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
At that point in time, I think St. Mary's (where I was born) & St. Joseph's were the only hospitals. St. Joseph's was out in Billings Park section (west). St. Francis Nursing Home is now in that facility. The address is: 1800 New York Ave., Superior. I'm not sure if St. Mary's building is still standing. I know it was on the east side of Tower Ave., maybe between 8th & 15th Streets and between John Ave. & Clough Ave. Both were closed as hospitals after Superior Memorial was built in the early 60's (now owned by the Duluth Clinic). St. Mary & St. Joseph were owned by the Catholic Diocese-1201 Hughitt Ave...I don't have a current phone book & do not live there anymore. That's it!! Thanks! Got an address, perchance? Do you know what happened to it and when? We have contacted the county office and have received the plat map for the property. Grandpa had been paying taxes all along and we are now doing the same, a whole $6 a year! Since I posted my query my husband has been able to find the property (the first time he didn't have the proper map and the county office was closed) and said it's all swamp. There goes our dream of a home with a view of Lake Superior..haha.

They should be able to answer questions you have about the land, if it wasn't a scam, your grandfather should have been paying property taxes while he owned the property. Douglas County Register of Deeds - Real Estate Records # is 715-395-1551 and County Clerk's Office - County Land Sales # is 715-395-1397. Between the two offices you should be able to find your answers.

Carlton County was used by many in years gone by for marriages, it was easy to get to across the Oliver bridge, plus there may have been a lesser fee and less requirements(waiting period, etc.). I have found a lot of my missing marriages there. I believe they have a bride and groom index. Good luck in your search. Jackie

I really do appreciate it! Before starting to work on this 'brick wall' I had two possible choices; Joseph Scott was married either in Duluth, Minnesota or Superior, Wisconsin. Thanks to your efforts we can eliminate one possibility. Tom Cuthbert
