Try to "run a tab" in a grocery store now! Since I posted this, I've been to Superior. It wasn't Johnson's Grocery, but Jane's. I spoke with my father about it, and although he didn't remember much about it (he's 77 and slowing down), he did tell me that my grandmother owned and ran it and lived behind it. I even got a picture! I think she must've kept the old name of the store, since her name was Florence. Is Jane's mentioned in the ad? I still don't have any dates. Thanks!

Hope this helps narrow down your search. The ad caught my interest as it is a combined effort of the grocery stores/markets to get customers to pay their grocery bill in full every pay day "Don't expect your Grocer to carry you on his books. He can't do this and stay in business"

Malvina Brockmayer (Myers) married Cyrille Cloutier at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in about 1885. It sounds like the folks you are searching for could be related. I have hit a brick wall with this family, and any info you might have would be appreciated. I do not have names of children, or anything. Malvina Brockmayer (Myers) is the sister of my ggrandmother, Anna B. Myers. Malvina was born somewhere in New England in 1868 or thereabouts, and the family is listed in the Canadian 1881 census index as living in a small town in Quebec Province, just a few miles from the New Hampshire and Maine borders with Canada.

Although I searched through the Douglas County Death Index from 1916 to 1950, I failed to find an obit for Linda Swanlund. Sorry. Here is what I did find: In Volume C, on page 36: Marriage Certificate for Benjamin Swanlund (b. Sweden) and Linda Lindgren (b. Sweden). License # 692, dated 9-Oct-1901. Marriage Certificate dated 16-Oct-1901. Benjamin's Father: Phi? Larson, mother: Johanna Pearson. Linda's father: Erich Lindgren, mother: Anna Nyberg. Witnesses were: Oscar Flodin and Alma Yungren. I also found Allwin B Swanlund death certificate 25-Jun-1910. No sign of Esther Soderstrom. I did find death certificates for Augusta Charlotte Soderstrom, d. Sep 3, 1963 and Anna Alma Soderstrom, d. May 22, 1964. I will e-mail you a retyping of Benjamin Swanlund's Obit.

I know John was born in 1883 and died in 1975, but I have no years for the others. I found them on Ellis Island except for Albridge, so he might be born after 1920. Any help welcome! / Carina
