Hello All I am new to this list and not so good on geography - so please excuse any blunders. My relative Ann Brackenbury (with husband Stephen and children William (inf) and Elizabeth (aged 5) entered the USA via New York on 14 May 1850. They were aboard the SS William Rathbone. I don't know where they went immediately, but Ann is in the 1855 State or Colonial Census in Wisconsin, Dodge County, Chester. There is no mention of her husband or children. On the 1860 Us Federal Census>Wisconsin>Dodge>Chester there is William Brackenberg, Male, aged 10 years living with Thomas Gore (33) and Hannah Gore (28). In 1870 he is still with them but it is now Wisconsin>Fond du Lac>Waupun. and in 1880 he is married to a Mary (aged 25) no children and a farmer. In 1905 they are still in Wisconsin, but now (and in 1895) they are in St Croix>Kinnickinnic and then in 1910 St Croix>Warren District 210. Elizabeth, who was 5 yrs when they arrived, is, on the 1860 Census?Wisconsin>Fond du Lac>Byron - although her surname is shown as Brickenberry, but age of 16 is right, as is birthpalce England in 1844. She is living with John Parsons (71) and Elizabeth Parsons (62) Alfred Parsons (18) and John O'Connell (17). No more info. I am trying to find out what happened to Stephen and Ann? Were the children legally adopted or were they with relatives? Or were they in service? Did Elizabeth marry, and if so, who to. Very grateful for any assistance. Regards Jan Moon Daintree, Australia
