    3. Happy New Year to everyone I belong to several lists and on one of them they are having a "Roll Call" meaning everyone lists the surnames they are researching and the county they are researching in. There are always new people joining the lists so I figured it would be a good idea – who knows, maybe we’ll find a new cousin out there. I’m researching the following names in mainly Dodge and Jefferson County but the way these people moved around they could be any place. Wagner and Moldenhauer Thanks for any help. I’m always willing to share information. Please e-mail me personally at dfdietl@metro2.k12.mn.us Thanks, Diane

    2. Nicole Kreuziger
    3. I recieved the link to this article about this massacre in Landskon, Bohemia (Lanskroun, Czech Republic) from a fellow researcher. Many of the people listed in it most certainly are part of my family that did not emigrate with the rest of our ancestors, and many of you may find some of them to be part of you family as well. If not, in the very least it will make you thankful that your ancestors chose to emigrate. Many of the people from the Landskron area emigrated to the areas of Watertown and Waterloo Wisconsin. 1. [WIDODGE] POORHOUSE Information
    2. Poor House Lady
    3. I would like to invite you to explore my new website The POORHOUSE STORY at http://www.poorhousestory.com which is a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American Poorhouses. We have just posted a photograph of the DODGE County Home on the WISCONSIN page. If you go to the homepage (link above) just click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on OTHER STATES and then click on WISCONSIN on the table of states. (If you have been to the site recently, you may need to click REFRESH on your browser to see the new material.) There are other pages which might help you gain more understanding about poorhouses. These are all links on the left side of the homepage and include: the HISTORY page, FEATURED ARTICLES page (which contains links to especially good poorhouse photo stories or newspaper articles, etc.) or the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS. Hope you enjoy the site. Feel free to post any information you may have about that or any other poorhouse ... either on the MESSAGE BOARD or by e-mailing me. The only way this site will grow to include more WISCONSIN info is by kind folks tipping me off to it!!! <grin> Please don't respond to me on this list. (I would get FIRED or SUED by my ISP if I maintained subscriptions to all the e-mail lists on which I post announcements!! <grin>) Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    1. [WIDODGE] New Site - Newspaper Extracts
    2. Jansdigs
    3. This was recently sent to me and I thought that I would send it to the list. I believe that it is a site you might want to keep an eye on. As it builds - it will have some good information. Jan Cortez Listowner ============================ Newspaper Abstracts - where we are finding our ancestors in the news! Over the years many records regarding our ancestors were lost or destroyed in fires, floods and other natural disasters. Newspapers contain much information that may not be found elsewhere such as births, marriages, deaths, court notices, land sales, tax notices, businesses, etc. They hold many glimpses of information in their community news and provide us with many fascinating details about the lives of our ancestors from the businesses they frequented to the hardships and triumphs they endured while building a new life in a new land. Newspaper abstracts came online October 1999 and since that time has grown to over 2,800 pages of data all of which has been contributed by volunteers. This site contains abstracts, extracts and links to newspaper articles across the United States, Ireland and Canada published prior to 1923. More volunteers are also needed in all geographic areas - no submissions are too small or too large! Visit us at: http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/ to see how we are finding our ancestors in the news! ***** Visit Jansdigs at http://www.jansdigs.com Check out Independent Pathways in History at http://www.ipih.org Visit MIGenExchange - We are growing - http://www.genexchange.com/state.cfm?state=mi

    2. Paula Vaughan
    3. I want to thank you all for all of the VERY positive responses. Many of the mail list administrators have stated it is all right to continue to post the reminders I am choosing not too. I did not solely join the county mail lists to place a weekly reminder on them. I felt I could contribute to others research not only by having a gathering place (weekly chat), but I have also answered many questions for many different researchers on the various county mail lists. I was hoping to help others. Should anyone need information on the Wisconsin Genealogy weekly chat-I have this information posted on the Waupaca County Website at the following address http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaupac/index.htm. I will will continue to post chat reminders on the Waupaca County mail list, WauShaOcon Mail List and Wisconsin Mail List. Hope you all break through those brick walls and find those lost ancestors-have a great week! 1. [WIDODGE] Wisconsin Chat
    2. Paula Vaughan
    3. I guess I didn't feel once a week email would unset anyone and that it would let the new people to the lists know of the weekly genealogy chat. So this will be the last notice of the weekly chats. I have repeated the instructions below and feel if anyone is interested in the weekly chat can print this out and refer to it for information. Hope to see you there Sunday night and happy hunting! Here are step by step instructions- 1-Go to the site http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2-Click on Log on to chat in the upper left area of the screen. This takes you to another screen. 3-At this screen type in your name or a name you are going to use in the chat room in the space next to Nick name. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ANYTHING ELSE IN ANY OF THE OTHER SPACES. Once you have typed in your name, click on OK, connect in the lower left. 4-You are in the chat room. Type your message in the lower left space where it says Type here and then hit enter. A few helpful hints. There is a list on the right side of the screen of all the people who are in the room. To enlarge the screen for easier reading click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the font, also for easier reading, in the space where you type your message type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the font size.
