I've "rescued" an old photograph of Clare CROWTHER of Ripon, Wisconsin. The photograph was taken at the Dunn's Art Gallery Studio in Ripon, WI, likely sometime in the 1890's with Clare appearing to be in her teens or 20's. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Clare and her family: Clara S. CROWTHER b. 15 Mar 1873 in Black Earth, WI to parents William Saville CROWTHER (b. 10 Apr 1843 in Manchester, England) and Mary MCCORD or MCCORDON (b. 15 Feb 1854 in Waukesha, WI). Clara married Henry Otis NASH (b. Mar 1863 in Oak Grove, WI, son of Noah P. NASH and Ellen V. SMITH) on 8 May 1907 in Ripon, WI and together they had a son, William NASH. Clara died 26 May 1951 in Ripon, WI and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam, WI. Census records provide the following information: 1880 census of Stacyville, IA: William S. CROWTHER, age 37, a Miller, born England, parents born England Mary CROWTHER, wife, age 26, Keeping House, born WI, parents born Ireland/Canada Bella CROWTHER, mother, age 79, born England, parents born England Maud M. Hello, Would like to have the following obit: Margaret M. (Herbrand) Conghlin died November 11, 1978 in Reeseville, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Thank you, Hazel
A number of Dodge Co., WI families migrated to Minnesota to places such as Winona Co. and Le Sueur Co., MN. In Le Sueur Co., MN there are a number of DEHN families. One of them was a well-known oil painting artist. Others married into my Roemhildt and Quiram families. Could this be the same family? _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the old busy. I am researching the descendants and ancestors of John M. Dehne (1811-1897) of Hustisford, WI. Any and all information will be appreciated. Virginia Nichols

I have an album of family photos that was passed down to me that originally belonged to Edward & Arvilla Dewitz. It contains many photos of the Emde family of Milwaukee, WI. I believe Edward my have lived with the Emde family in adolescence. Please let me know if have any info on the Emde family of Milwaukee or if you would like copies of these photos. One photo dated 9-5-1897 has written on the back, John, James, and Leonone Emde, and it was taken by Bierhaus Photography, 775 Teutonia Ave, Milwaukee. 1900-1910 Census data shows John and Mary Emde lived on Locust Street in Milwaukee and had children, John, Eleonora, (and possibly James). (surnames I am researching - Dewitz, Rusch, Motl, Nistler, Emde, Roffeis)
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Dula MCCUNE. In addition to her name, someone has written "Picture" and "Oak Grove, Wisconsin". I'm guessing that the photograph was taken in the 1870's and that Dula was in her teens at the time it was taken. Base on limited research I was able to locate Dula in census records with her family as follows: 1860 census of Burnett, WI: Thomas MCCUNE, age 46, a Farmer, born OH Caroline MCCUNE, wife, age 30, born NY Mary Frances MCCUNE, age 12, born WI Samuel T. MCCUNE, age 8, born WI Dula Elma MCCUNE, age 6, born WI William MCCUNE, age 4, born WI + Hired Man 1870 census of Trempealeau, WI: - living in the home of E. J. & Frances HANKEY Dulie MCCUNE, age 16, Attends School, born WI I am hoping to locate someone from her family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this MCCUNE Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Hello Jan I checked the Dodge County births from 1875 to 1924 and there were no Brackenbury/ Brackenberg's. I also checked the marriages from 1875 to 1910 and there were none listed there either. And there were no deaths from 1875 to 2004. I don't remember if I told you the Dodge County courthouse burned down in 1875 so they don't have any records before 1875. When I go to Fon Du Lac I can check for a marriage between William Brackenberg and a Mary before 1880. I can also check for children of William and Mary from 1870 to 1895. I can also check for a marriage for Elizabeth after 1865. Hello All I am new to this list and not so good on geography - so please excuse any blunders. My relative Ann Brackenbury (with husband Stephen and children William (inf) and Elizabeth (aged 5) entered the USA via New York on 14 May 1850. They were aboard the SS William Rathbone. I don't know where they went immediately, but Ann is in the 1855 State or Colonial Census in Wisconsin, Dodge County, Chester. There is no mention of her husband or children. On the 1860 Us Federal Census>Wisconsin>Dodge>Chester there is William Brackenberg, Male, aged 10 years living with Thomas Gore (33) and Hannah Gore (28). In 1870 he is still with them but it is now Wisconsin>Fond du Lac>Waupun. and in 1880 he is married to a Mary (aged 25) no children and a farmer. In 1905 they are still in Wisconsin, but now (and in 1895) they are in St Croix>Kinnickinnic and then in 1910 St Croix>Warren District 210. Elizabeth, who was 5 yrs when they arrived, is, on the 1860 Census?Wisconsin>Fond du Lac>Byron - although her surname is shown as Brickenberry, but age of 16 is right, as is birthpalce England in 1844. She is living with John Parsons (71) and Elizabeth Parsons (62) Alfred Parsons (18) and John O'Connell (17). No more info. I am trying to find out what happened to Stephen and Ann? Were the children legally adopted or were they with relatives? Or were they in service? Did Elizabeth marry, and if so, who to. Very grateful for any assistance. Regards Jan Moon Daintree, Australia
