Can anyone tell me about a the german lutheran school/college (Northwestern) in watertown? I was told one of my ancestors helped found it. Here's the info I rec'd: Amalia Dorthey Maria von Lauersdorf was born March 2, 1857 in Watertown, WI. She is my great grandmother. Her father was Wilhelm von Lauersdorf born April 14, 1831 in Berlin , Germany and died in 1905 He maried Anna Weigel or Weigh born January 3, 1820? in Hessen Darmstadt and died ion April 14, 1870. Amalia married Johannes Adam Petri REV. born June 1, 1850 in Ober-Dieden Hessen Darmstadt Germany. They were married August 19, 1877. He died January 10, 1910 in North Leeds-Tollsville, Wisconsin (Addison County). I was born in Milwaukee, and visited Watertown many times as a child and heard of a college scholarship at a school there that was only for von Lauersdorf family memebers. ANY info on the school, or a lead to where I can get ino, or info on the VON LAUERSDORF name. I am researching the last name of LAUERSDORF. The is the first time I've heard or seen it with the von Thanx a mil Sally Lauersdorf Hagen
Bertha Zimmerman (b. May 21, 1874 d. February 19, 1932) married to Frederick Vergenz (b. June 1865) On the 1900 census they lived in Milford, Jefferson Co., WI Also, 1900 he had a boarder staying with them: Zimmerman, Frank A. (born 1871) his occupation was Book Keeper, note he was the census taker. Is this your line? This is the only information I have on the Zimmerman's Zimmerman's are not my direct line, but I am researching the Bussewitz's who lived in that same area. And Frederick Vergenz mother was a Bussewitz. Paula __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Find a job, post your resume. http://careers.yahoo.com

Forgot who asked for this, sent it to the wrong person, sorry! John Here they are, having alittle trouble reading names, especially with what looks like Josiah and Tissy, the reason being, Josiah is usually a man's name, but this is listed as a female. Tissy is listed as a male. The problem reading is with the first letter, as it's very fancy. Hope this helps CROWFOOT Household 101, Rubicon Township, Dodge Co. I was wondering if that wonderful person who did the 1850 census look-up would do one for me. I am looking for a Wilhelm/William GRAUNKE living in southern Dodge county or northern Jefferson county, in the Watertown area. I know he had a daughter born in 1848 in Watertown (my great-great grandmother). His wife was Caroline/Carolina. Thank you so much if you could check for me. Sincerely, Katherine

There was a Swan settler in Beaver Dam , of years ago , who owned a house that was written of in their paper, the Citizen, A park is named for him, that was once his land, I think. I am not from there , but remember reading this, hope I am accurate. bk ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Blair" <jblair@scattercreek.com> To: <WIDODGE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 25, 2001 11:23 PM Subject: Re: [WIDODGE] 1850 Census > Looks like 3 families all in the same household, (# 399, Beaver Dam, Dodge > Co. Is there anyone with access to the Wisconsin 1850 Census? If so, and if you are willing to do lookups, I would be grateful if you would see if there is a John SWAN(N) family listed in Westford Township, Dodge County. Also, is there a state census for 1855 available? If so, where can I find it? Thank you in advance for any help on this family. Claudia

There is a John Swan listed on the 1850 Census in the town of Beaver Dam, page 27. The Census is not indexed on the web or split up per township, so not sure what the real page is. If I can find it, will let you know. John
Hi List, For a short time, I have these, if you need a look up, let me know! Read the description below, and you will know what information I would be sending you! Title Pre-1907 death index by name Authors Wisconsin. Bureau of Health Statistics (Main Author) Wisconsin. State Historical Society (Added Author) Notes Early registration of vital records in Wisconsin was incomplete. Most of the deaths date from the 1850's. An index in alphabetical order by surname. The reel numbers, image numbers, and sequence numbers in this index refer to the films housed in the state of Wisconsin files. (not the Genealogical Library's films) SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SEARCHING THIS RECORD: The Death Record volume number will usually be found only on the beginning page of the volume. The date of death is the key to locating the Death Record. Search the record microfilm to locate the volume number; the page number may be either written or stamped in the upper left hand corner. The death date is important because certificate numbers in some sections go up to 500 and then repeat; search before and after the assumed certificate number since the dates are not in sequence. There are about 28 questions asked on each death certificate, such as: name of deceased maiden name color sex occupation age birthplace name of father father's birthplace name of mother mother's birthplace name of spouse birth date death date residence at death place of burial disease and duration place of death Terre

Will you please let me know how to change my e-mail address for the Dodge County mailing list? thank you. Eleanor Reynolds
I was at the Horicon library today, and they have a booklet made by some persons (never did see names in there) in the 1980's of the churches and cemeteries in Dodge County. They also had a 1996 plat book (most recent). Most of the cemeteries in the booklet are NOT on the plat map! I did find, however, that the cemetery I asked about yesterday is known as "Stone Cemetery". Thank you to those who responded to my post yesterday. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~melmouse/
Does anyone know an address for St. John's Lutheran Cemetery? I believe that it is located north of Watertown, Wisconsin. I have many ancestors buried there and would love to know how to access their records. Thank you! Sincerely, Katherine
Hi folks, If anyone has the cemetery book handy, would you mind looking up Olive (Fay) McAuley, who died around 1867. Her father, John W Fay is buried in Burnett Corners Cemetery and I suspect she may be as well. Thanks, Bob Fay
I am looking for the name for the cemetery that is just West of the intersection of Hwy E and 26. Please contact me offlist with the answer. Melissa Vavra-Jackson melmouse@mwci.net http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~melmouse/
