Where would I find the Waupan Prison records, 1890-1900? Susan/CA
Cleaning up some old business I find a RUSSELL FRAWLEY dieing in Beaver Dam WI, 1967. I think his wife MARION WALL FRAWLEY may have still been alive 2000 and in a nursing home which may have been called Hillside Manor and was connected to a hospital. Can anyone help me in anyway? Tim in North Carolina
Later this month I will have the chance to be in Waupun and hope to do some research while there. In particular I will be looking for death info and obits on my g-g-grandparents. They are listed in the 1860 Census in Fond du Lac County, Alto Twp., Waupun P.O. He is not listed in the 1870 Census with her in Fond du Lac County, Waupun North Ward, Waupun P.O. She is not listed in the 1880 Census. Hopefully, some of you on the list can direct me to cemetery lists and/or old newspapers and/or wills for that time period. Waupun City library?? Fond du Lac county library?? Local historical society?? Local college or university library?? County court house?? Any suggestions will be appreciated greatly. Thanks, Larry Brooks
Dear Jane, Thank you so much for your great suggestions. It is nice to hear that librarians might be helpful in this area. I too have had help from the Oshkosh ARC system, but often they did not have the documents that I needed. What a wonderful system, though. Let's see, my Dodge county names: Herbener, Mueller (in Mayville), Kressin, Pautz, Boettcher, Graunke, Vorpahl, Wiedenhoeft, and more that I can't think of. Have fun with your researching! Sincerely, Katherine
Dear Katherine, I almost forgot here is a site that is good for some lookups. It is limited in what they have (I think it is still free):www.uwosh.edu/archives/home.htm It is the University of Wisconsin at OshKosh. I have found a lot of stuff thru them too. Good Luck, Jane
Dear Katherine, I think the librarians only charge for how much it costs for a copy of the obit. Either 25 cents or 50 cents per obituary. That is what is was about two years ago when I was there on vacation. Sometimes it helps to send a self addressed stamped envelope so they don't have to pay postage. You could call or write them if you have any questions too. I hope this helps you. What names are you working on again? Here are some of mine: Simms, Dillman, Gergen, Hall, Landfried, Obermeier, Stacey, Sheldon, Dodge.... If there is no relation I like to think of our ancestors as being neighbors! Jane
Dear Jane, Do you know whether the Beaver Dam Library librarians will do obituary look-ups, and if so, do you know what fees they charge? It would be fun to have obits on some of my Dodge County ancestors. Sincerely, Katherine
Hello, I am sorry I don't live in Wisconsin but I know the Beaver Dam Community Library, 311 N. Spring Street, Beaver Dam, WI 53916 houses indexed cemeteries for Dodge County. I do not know if Oakhill Cemetery is one of them or not but it would be worth it to write. PLus this library has old newspapers on microfilm; if you know the death dates there might be an obituary written for your ancestors that the librarians could look up for you. Beaver Dam Community Library phone : 920-887-4631, fax: 920-887-4633. Good Luck! Jane

Hi all, I just recently found out that Oakhill Cemetery is located in Horicon, Dodge Co. Is that true? If so, could someone who might live close to it be willing to write me and let me know what condition it is in? I am looking for someone who might be able to take a picture of a tombstone for me. If not a picture, then perhaps someone could visit the cemetery and verify a couple of graves for me. If anyone would know of a place where there might be a listing of the cemetery online, please let me know. I am really interested in finding out about my Frank Forbes line. Thanks for any help and forgive me if I am asking anything out of line. I just have no way of doing this myself and have to rely on the kindness of others to help out right now. Of course, I would gladly help someone who needs some Texas (East Texas) research done if they needed so. Sincerely, Ken Spangler Paris, Texas --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Dear Nancy, If you get replies on the deed records response, could you put the answers on the list? I would like to access some deed records also. Thank you! Sincerely, Katherine

I am looking for ancestors and descendants of John Block, born about 1820, at Prussia Germany, and his wife Fredricka Galt, born about 1821. This couple both died at Lac Qui Parle co. MN, in the 1890s. Their son, Hermann Paul Block was born in 1850 at Colburg Prussia Germany. He married Henrietta Radmer. In 1882, they sailed to America on the vessel Nurnberg from Bremen Germany. Hermann and Henrietta had a daughter named Ida, born 1882 at Wisconsin,, but I am not sure which county. Any assistance appreciated. cjbell@inebraska.com
I'm planning a trip to SLC in about 2 weeks and am hoping to be able to do research on my immigrant ancestor, Louis (Leo) Adler who resided in Hubbard twp., Dodge Co., WI from 1870 to 1875. I have exhaused all of my resources in Ohio where he came after he left Dodge and have been unable to find an area of origin more specific than Prussia or Germany. I was hoping someone in Dodge County might be willing to look at the land records for Dodge county for the 1870-1875 five year period for a record for Leo or Louis Adler in the (last desparate) hope that it might list a more specific locale for origin. I would be more than happy to pay for time, travel, copies, postage, etc. if anyone would be willing to do this. Thank you so much for your time and kind consideration. Mindy mshadle@prodigy.net
I was wondering if anyone has ever come across a Gambur or a Jambur or Yambur family around the 1848-1855 mark in the Beaver Dam area of Wisconsin. (I think it's Dodge county?) with two of the sisters named Victoria and Celia. If so, let me know! I'm searching for a family of one father and seven daughters, five of them with unknown names. Brent
I am looking for a number of items that may have appeared in the Horicon Reporter. Does anyone know if they have an archives and if so how I could contact them? I have culled all articles I could find in the Beaver Dam Argus. Items I'm seeking include: John M. Yorgey (d. Aug. 30, 1884 in Horicon) - obituary Catharine (Davidheiser) Yorgey (d. Apr. 19, 1905 while visiting Alabama) - obituary David K. Yorgey (d. Dec. 30, 1937 in Horicon) - obituary Maria (Rogers) Yorgey w/o John M. Yorgey (d. 1953 ) - obituary Rogers Yorgey (d. June 1966 in Horicon, former mayor of Horicon) - obituary Sylvia Yorgey w/o Rogers Yorgey (d. Apirl 1973 in Horicon) - obituary Sylvia and Rogers Yorgey - 1924 - marriage John D. Yorgey to Matilda Hoese - 1917 - marriage Marriage and/or obituaries for Emma (Yorgey) Reynolds and D. J. Reynolds, still living in Horicon in 1905 Blanche Yorgey (b. Oct. 12, 1886), married Arthur Wickman between 1930 and 1934, was librarian at public library to at least 1930 Roxie Yorgey (d. Jan. 18, 1983) married Aug. 15, 1912 to Arnold Wickman. The first Yorgeys moved to Horicon, WI in 1857 from Montgomery County, PA. That would have been John M. Yorgey (b. Sept. 1831 d. Aug. 30, 1884) and his wife Catharine (Davidheiser) Yorgey (b.April 9, 1831 D. April 19, 1905). John M. and Catharine had 9 children: David K. m. Harriet Clement; Ann m. a Hamilton; Emma m. D. J. Reynolds; Katerine; Stella m. Joseph Ablard; John M. m. Matilda Hoese; George (b. Aug. 12, 1865 D. Jan. 18, 1901, never married); Frank Yorgey; and Sarah Yorgey, probably never married. Also looking for information on the Oak Hill Cemetery in Dodge Co., where Yorgey and Catherine (Davidheiser) Yorgey may have been buried with his son John M. Yorgey and Maria (Rogers) Yorgey. Hello, I believe there might be a plat map on microfilm from the library catalog at www.familysearch.org. If you live close to a family history center(LDS or Mormon Church) you can rent and view the microfilm at this center. They will help you order the film. Jane
