    3. I found this web site for John Von Haden, a professional researcher in Washington Co., Wisconsin: http://www.washcowis.com/ He has family group sheets (with sources referenced) for families who were in Washington County, Wisconsin before 1900 and also families in neighboring counties (Milwaukee, Waukesha, Dodge, Fond du Lac and Ozaukee) and in Germany who had family ties to that part of Wisconsin. I did not find any group sheets for Sasse, Fellwock & Oertwig, but who knows. There could be more on his site that could be helpful. It looks like he does good work, but his prices are high. --Glenn Gohr archives_guy@hotmail.com

    3. Glenn, The first thing you'd probably want to do is check the free, online 1880 census records at: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp Looks like there were two households with the spelling GENSMER. The two families are just three households away from each other. My best guess is that Luise is the matriarch of the family and Charley, Annie, and Frederick are her children. The 3 year old Annie is probably the daughter of a deceased son of Luise's. Looks like you should check MN for Gensmer variations as well. 1880 Census Place Williamstown, Dodge, Wisconsin Family History Library Film 1255423 NA Film Number T9-1423 Page Number 480B Charley GENSEMER Self M Male W 24 WI Farmer PRUSSIA PRUSSIA Agusta GENSEMER Wife M Female W 19 PRUSSIA Keeping House PRUSSIA PRUSSIA Luise GENSEMER Mother W Female W 61 PRUSSIA Keeping House PRUSSIA PRUSSIA Annie GENSEMER Dau S Female W 19 WI At Home PRUSSIA PRUSSIA Annie GENSEMER GDau S Female W 3 MN SWITZ WI 1880 Census Place Williamstown, Dodge, Wisconsin Family History Library Film 1255423 NA Film Number T9-1423 Page Number 480B Frederick GENSMER Self M Male W 31 WI Farmer PRUSSIA PRUSSIA Caroline GENSMER Wife M FemaleW 28 WI Keeping House PRUSSIA PRUSSIA Charles GENSMER Son S Male W 3 WI WI WI Henery GENSMER Son S Male W 1 WI WI WI Kathy Glenn Gohr wrote: > > I'm having a hard time placing this particular family in Dodge Co., WI. > Found on the Dodge Co./Jefferson Co. Northrup HI, I am searching for records of Thomas M. Northrup/Northup who died in Doge Co. ( Iron Ridge, Mayville, Horicon area) in 1864. He was born in NY, (possibly Steuben or Yates Co.) I have been unable to find a burial place for him. or any other documentation. His wife Mary Ann BORDEN NORTHRUP went to Clark Co., with some of her children and died there in 1884. Can anyone tell me if there are cemetery records available for the area? Believe he has a son buried there as well, Alphious/Alphius Northrup died there, was kicked by a horse. Don't have the date. I would like to know if there is an index to wills for the time of 1864, old newspapers etc. I have not found much on the web sites. 2. Hello, Here are a couple of sites: www.uwosh.edu/archives/home.htm This is the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. The site is free unless they changed it since I was last there. Also wpl@mwfls.org This is the Waupun Public Library. They have done a lot of research for me for Dodge County research. Donations are accepted. The Beaver Dam Community Library has an index of SOME Dodge county cemeteries. This little library also has old newspapers on microfilm and genealogies that other persons have contributed. The address is: 311 N. Spring Street, Beaver Dam, WI 53916 phone:920-887-4631, fax:920-887-4633 (I do not know if these are current phone numbers, fax numbers) A couple of years ago they did it for free but nowadays I do not know. Hope this helps, Jane

    2. Dear Tim, There was a nursing home/hospital in Juneau, Wisconsin. Not far from Beaver Dam. Juneau is also the county seat for Dodge County. Court records(death, marriage, birth records would be here as well as land, etc. You could write and get a death certificate for the husband. Also a search of the Social Security number at familysearch.org might help to find out if the wife is still living(her number/name will not appear on the list) or not. Hope this helps, Jane

    2. Dear Larry, University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh( a half hour drive north of Waupun) should have something. Waupun public library, 120 S. Mill Street. and also wpl@mwfls.org could be of interest to you. The Beaver Dam Community library also has old newspapers on microfilm deals mostly with Dodge County. Obituaries, also they have indexed some of the surrounding cemeteries of Dodge County. Some parts of Waupun were in Dodge county but I think the Waupun library might be a better choice. Lots of cemeteries on the little roads: Cattaragus cemetery; Forest Mound near downtown Waupun. The Fond Du Lac County library in Fond Du Lac city would be good too and there is a historical society that meets at the Adams/Addams House certain nights a week. Sorry don't know the address. Well I wish you luck in your research efforts! Jane
