Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AYWBAIB/46 Message Board Post: I am seeking any info on Johann (John) Widmann, a German immigrant and, at some point, a conductor on the Milwaukee railroad. John m. Christine Nagy, (b. 1864 in IA probably in the Dubuque area). Christine's parents names are unknown, but dad was born in Austria and mom in Switzerland. Christine had at least two sisters, Lida and (?), both allegedly were dwarves. John and Christine married in the late 1800's in Dubuque, IA. They had three natural children, Magdalen Josephine, (my g-gma, b. 14 Jun 1886 in Dubuque, IA, d, Sep 1973 in Helena, MT) Louis, and Henrietta. They also had an adopted daughter, Hilda Van Buren Lappin, (who eventually became the personal secretary to Harry Bridges, the organizer of the Longshoreman's Union). John and Christine emigrated to eastern Montana and homesteaded sometime prior to 1920, as they are enumerated on the 1920 Custer County census with my g-gma, Magdalen, and her two children (my gma) Mabel and Leo. I have lots of descendent info, but no info on John or Christine or their parents. Anything would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
