    2. David J. Widmann
    3. Wow, that was quick. :) Guess I'm so used to being the only Widmann in the phone book that I didn't expect any response from this list. OK, so I'll reveal what I know about my family. It's not much, but maybe it can help someone who's got a puzzle with a missing piece or two. I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My father, Josef, came to Canada in 1956 (if memory serves) by way of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He came from Jenbach, Austria, and was born in 1926. I'm not sure where he was born, but it was in the part of Tyrol that was ceded to Italy after World War I. His father is also named Josef. And that's most of what I know. I've met several uncles, cousins, half-siblings and such from Austria and Germany, but I'm not entirely sure how everyone fits into the web. I'm hoping get that figured out one of these days. If anyone's got a family genealogy site, a link would be appreciated. I have found a few odd tidbits about our clan. I wonder if I'm related to the guy that invented the addition and subtraction signs :) Actually, I found this mailing list quite by accident. I was looking for the family coat of arms. I've found a couple of different ones: one with a griffin on it and one with bunches of grapes on it. Neither of them look like the one that was on the "Book of Widmann" that my dad got from a mail order catalogue several years ago. Is anyone out there familiar with the heraldry of the family? Thanks, and I look forward to reading more from this list.
