Ames, the youngest son of Rev. War vet Nathaniel Ames of Oregon, Dane, WI. Ira was my 2-great grandfather who died at Corinth, MS after the Battle of Shiloh in the Civil War. He and his wife Sarah Ann Brooks were married in Boonville, NY, and moved to Oregon, WI with Nathaniel in 1844. Ira and Sarah moved to Fairfield, Sauk Co., WI prior to the Civil War, and the family is buried at Russell's Corner's Cemetery in Fairfield Township. Ira has a stone at cemetery, but is buried near Cairo Natl Cemetery in Cairo, IL. There son Edgar was one of the first soldiers to die in the war (2 Jan 1862)and is buried at Arlington, VA, but has a stone at Russell's Corners. I have a copy of Sarah's (Ira's) Pension Record, and also the Rev. War Record of Nathaniel if you are interested in a copy?
