I am researching my paternal branch, my older brother is 20 years military. His special request was to find our Davis branch, past our grandfather, Harry William Davis; born 20 June 1890, Baldwin, St. Croix county, Wisconsin. Harry W. Davis, age 39, is in the 1930 Federal Census, Miles City, Custer Co., Montana, occupation brakeman on steam-engine, Owns his dwelling, worth 900$., living in the city, with his wife, Florence L. Davis, son, Leonard W. 10 years old; Daniel E., Hazel H., Harry Jr., and William J. are the children at the time of census. After census another child was born, August I. Davis 8 Aug. 1932. In the 1930 Fed. Census, it list Harry and wife, and both parents of both(Harry & Florence) All Born in Wisc. Harry and both his parents were born in Wisconsin. Florence and both her parents were born in Wisconsin. Her parents are Ellsworth Erastus "Edward" Dickins/Dickens, born 9 April 1863. Wisc. or New York, died 5 Feb. 1941 in Madison, Dane co., Wisc. Married Elizabeth Anna Bierd/Beard on 3 July 1888, Elizabeth was born 20 Dec. 1863 in Sauk County, Wisc. Died 27 June 1921 in Madison, Dane Co., Wisc. my Grandpa Harry William Davis appears as a brick wall to me for the moment. Now we know where he was when he was born, baldwin, Wisc, 20 June 1890, that's what his death certif. from Montana says. 1930 he is in Miles City, Montana, age 39, w/ his wife Florence L. Dickens Davis, where he dies in June (24) 1967. Federal census states he was born in Wisconsin and so were his parents. SO WHO ARE THE PARENTS OF HARRY WILLIAM DAVIS??? For some reason HARRY WILLIAM DAVIS and his BROTHER, Fred? W?. Davis and a sister are orphaned? farmed out?? Put into a orphanage school??? These two Brothers, as grown adults, DID live in Miles City, MT about the years 1920ish to 1940ish, at some point in this time frame they lived in the town at the same time. As DID A SISTER, so I am told. I am also told, i do not know if the sistr and Polly Brown are the same, but was also told that Polly Brown of Miles City, MT is the Brown Side of Our DAVIS Family. So was this Polly Brown a Davis at some point in time ???? Harry William Davis' children, Leonard William Davis born 1919 in Montana, Died in 1974 in Dayton, Ohio. Daniel Elsworth Davis born 1921, died before 3/2007, Portland, Oregon. Hazel H. Davis Reule born 1926, died 1991 Bismark, N. Dakota. Harry Junior Davis, born 14 June 1928 Miles City, Custer Co., Montana. William J. Davis born 1930, died Couer d'Alene, Idaho, Bayview, Idaho before 2006. August I. Davis born August 1932, died Spokane, WA, buried Portland, Oregon, Interesting that your Sarah Davis was in Wisc. earlier than my Davis. Can you share anything else about your Sarah?
