My grt grt grt grand parents were Knute (knud) Johnson (jonsson) Luraas and Gyri Nelsdtr Rue. they came to america presumably with the original Luraas settlers through boston and then milwaukee then to the muskego area around wind lake, WI in May of 1839 on the ship Venice. they were originally fron Tinn, Telemark. they moved up to winnebago county in about 1847 and settled in the town of clayton. in the records that i have from the church where they are burried, it mentions that Knute was a cousin to the famous rosemalers and violin makers from Norway and that his wife Gyri was a cousin to Snowshoe Thompson a famous skier. maybe we share a common ancestor?
