This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: South, Bossingham, Day, Golden, Shippey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WFC.2ACI/3133 Message Board Post: Dianna was the daughter of Richard South and Elizabeth Bossingham. they settled in Dane Co. abt 1848, where Elizabeth met, and as far as we can find, eloped about 1857 with Ezra Day, son of Lovila A. Day and Sally Shippey. Dianna and Ezra settled in Helena Texas, but Ezra was a Unionist and got himself in trouble with Confederates in Texas, costing him his life. Dianna returned to her parents in Dane Co. with two of her 3 children. she remained a widow until 1880 when she married William B. Golden, a widower preacher with 4 children, Frances E., William F., Lillie? O., and Chas? B. after that they all seem to just disappear, though I do find Ezra and Dianna's son and daughter in later censi and various records. can anyone tell me what happened to Rev. Golden or Dianna? so what happened to Rev. Golden and Dianna?
I would check in the area of Oregon in Dane County. I thought I saw a tombstone in the Oregon Cemetery for Ezra Day, d 21 Sep 1882. But from what you say, and another source, he died in Texas 20 years earlier. So I'm confused and wonder if I wrote down the wrong information. I'll be going there again in April and will verify this info. In the meantime, if anyone can clear this up, please do so.
