    3. Obit for Seth Snyder >From the Stoughton Courier Hub P45581 Thursday, April 2, 1931 Page 1 Seth Snyder, 70, Dies Following Long Illness Was Waterworks Superintendent for Almost 35 years Seth Snyder, 70, died at the community hospital this morning, following an illness of several weeks duration. Mr. Snyder had been in poor health since the death of his wife some months ago. >From the standpoint of length of service to the city, Mr. Snyder was the dean of city employees. Appointed as superintendent of the city waterworks department in 1897, Mr. Snyder would have completed 34 years in that position on the 14th day of this month. Previous to his appointment as superintendent he had served in other capacities. Although one of the oldest superintendents in the state, Mr. Snyder was continually complimented by officers in other cities as being one of the most modern officials because of his keeping in touch with all progress made in his line of work. Under his control the city waterworks has grown from a small struggling unit to an efficiently managed organization which has shown increasing profits through the past years. Mayor Pays Tribute When hearing of Mr. Snyder's death early today, Mayor A.E. Skinner said, "In the death of Mr. Snyder the city loses a most faithful worker, a good citizen and a fine friend.. His position as superintendent can be filled by another man, but no one can take "Seth's place in the hearts of his host of friends." Old Resident of Stoughton Records show that Mr. Snyder's parents came to Stoughton from Augusburg, New York. Mr. Snyder was born in Stoughton on May 13 (could be 15) 1861, thus he would have celebrated his 70th birthday next month. He has spent practically his entire life in this community. Surviving him are one brother, Gustave Snyder and one daughter, Frances. Funeral services for Mr. Snyder will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at 2 o'clock from the First M.E. Church. The Rev. W. Harold Sloane will officiate and burial will be in Riverside. Halverson and Ford are in charges of arrangements. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Mw4au@aol.com> To: <WIDANE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 3:02 PM Subject: [WIDANE] Stoughton Currier Hub obit lookup > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Snyder > Classification: Lookup > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WFC.2ACI/3125 > > Message Board Post: > > Would someone be able to lookup and copy an obit in the Stoughton Currier > Hub for > > Mr. G.
