In the Drum Parish there are records apparently of the marriage of James Brislan and Margaret Egan (12 Feb 1814); also a record of their eldest child Judy (also seen as Johanna). Their other children born in Ireland were Margaret(b.1821), Edward and John(b.1825), but no records have been found. They all emmigrated to Canada where James died in 1864. I don't have any information about where James was born, his parents, etc. James Brislan also had a brother Daniel with a family residing near Monegal in the Parish of Toomavara. I'm new to this search and have seen your name reappearing with searches for Brislane and was just wondering if we shared the same family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They lived in the village of Markuszowa which isn't far from Strzyzow in the southeast of the country in the Rzeszow region. The correct Polish spelling of the name is Fafara (with a hook under the first a), but it's pronounced Fonfara, which is why a lot of people in the States spell it that way. I was in the cemetary in neighboring Dobrzechow not long ago looking for their graves and I was surprised by how many graves had the name Fafara on them. Maybe your family came from this part of Poland too. Have you checked the Ellis Island web site or www.stevenmorse.org yet to find exactly where they came from? It's worth checking out.
