    2. Tim Stowell
    3. The old year has left us. All of its triumphs and tragedies, hopes and dreams are now a part of our history. In comes the new year, a clean slate, upon which we will write our own story. On this first day, we can resolve to do many things. Many of these will soon be lost in the busy part of our lives. Still here and there some of those seeds of resolution will bear fruit. >From the writer of Ecclesiastes - "To everything there is a season... a time to be born and a time to die..a time to weep and a time to laugh..a time of war and a time of peace. May the new year bring you many triumphs, few tragedies, dreams fulfilled, faith in your fellow man, hope for the future and charity for all. To celebrate the promise of the new year I'm passing along the URL of a site I created in 2005 of vintage New Year's cards from my personal family collection. http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/state1/cards/newyears.htm If you missed the vintage Christmas cards, there is a link included to view them. May you have a wonderful New Year. Tim

    3. HI I have been watching the messages about the stone church with interest and it may be two different churches folks are talking about .I''ve erased the earlier messages. I appreciated the link included in the Immanual Lutheran Church message. . HOpe Immanual was never a stone church. As far as I know there is not a Cottage Grove Rd in Marshall, nor a stone church on Cottage Grove road other than perhaps St. Ann's which is Catholic and was on what is now BB east of Cottage Grove.. . There was a second stone church now gone in the Hope area. if the original poster thinks the church they are looking for is in the Cottage Grove area, please contact me directly. smsteele@wisc.edu S At 02:12 PM 12/30/2006 +0000, you wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Surnames: >Classification: queries > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.dane/3109.2/mb.ashx > >Message Board Post: > >Here is a like to a history of the Hope Lutheran Church: > >http://www.hope-in-action.org/history.html > > > > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >WIDANE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes >in the subject and the body of the message

    1. [WIDANE] Tis the season
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. Tis the season to be with family, celebrate or create traditions unique to your family. For those of you who've added members to your family this year by birth, marriage or discovery - congratulations. For those of you who've lost members for whatever reason, my condolences. Some traditions pass as do the generations, while others are continued or created. For my family I remember my father speaking of his childhood in central New York in the 1930s, where on Christmas Eve his father would go out, find, cut down, a tree for Christmas. Brought back home it was decorated with among other things candles, which were lit at some point. For myself, the last few years when we've gone to Minnesota for the holiday, usually after lunch on Christmas day, we've walked down the middle of the local river for a mile or more, seeing the tracks left by the various creatures in the snow on the river and river banks. Sometimes we see pheasant and once I saw a snowy owl. To celebrate the season I'm passing along the URL of a site I created last year, of vintage Christmas cards from my personal family collection. http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/state1/cards/chrstmas.htm Merry Christmas to you all, Tim

    3. Stan, Wilhelm/William OLSON (aka: Wilhelm Olsen DAHLE) 1826-1897 emigrated in 1849 from Søndeled, Aust-Agder, Norway. On Oct 30, 1855 he married Anna Olsdatter STRØMME 1836-1909 (aka: Anna OLSON) who had emigrated in 1844 from Vinje local parish, Voss, Hordaland, Norway with her parents and several siblings. Wilhelm & Anna OLSON family is described on page 252 (ref. no. 1849:3402) in the book "Norwegian Immigrants to the United States, 1849 - Vol.4" by Gerhard B. NAESETH and Blaine HEDBERG. I can send image of page, if you're interested. Last year I accompanied a g-grandson of Anna's sister Guro 1830-1882 (m.t. Ole TORGERSON 1826-1898) back to his ancestral farms in Voss, incl. the STRØMME (now: STRAUME) farm. I have several pictures from the visit there. In addition, I also have much info on their sister Steinvor 1824-1907 (Mrs. OUVERSON) and her family. Kind regards, Viggo M.
