We would happily pay postage and all copy expenses. Please e-mail me at nadtj@cox.net I have copies of biographies for Charles and Edward. Charles' obituary is quite detailed and interesting. I also have copies of obituaries for some of the other siblings of Ida and Marcellite as well. If these are things you don't already possess I would be happy to share them with you.

I have since found lots of information as follows: Carl (Charles) Diedrich Wilhelm Busse was born 8/24/1835 in Prussia and died 12/22/1918 in Burke Twnship, Dane County, WI. He married Marie Louisa Johanna Luckensmeier 11/13/1963. I was able to find their marriage certificate and his parents were Christian and Elizabeth Busse. I am now trying to find information on them (birthdates, maiden name, immigration(?) and death dates/places). I haven't had much success with that and am guessing they didn't come to the U.S. I was able to trace the Luckensmeier family back quite far though. Thanks to all of you for your help! If these Busse's are in the church records, I'd love to know. Thanks again.

The Hope Evangelical church was never larg enough to support its own preacher and was served by the Evangelical preacher stationed in Madison. The German were usually very good about giving the birthplaces of the Father and Mother in their baptismal records. My memory is that the Busse name is included in the "founders" of that congregation, somewhere in the 1850's Sandy Kintner

I think my mom may have one photograph of Marcellite when she was married to Desmond Ray Gannon. They had one child, my grandmother, Ruth Carolyn Gannon. I have Marcellite's signet ring, and that is all we have or know of the Hilfert family. When Ruth's mother died she was sent to live with her Gannon relatives. She only really knew of two of her uncles-- Edward and Burt. Here are the siblings of Charles and Caroline: Henry Oscar Hilfert was born 9 Aug 1871. Married Abbie May Scofield . He died 30 Apr 1906 in Milwaukee. They had two children, Lucille and Margaret. He was a pharmacist. Clara A Hilfert born about Apr 1873. Married William Herman Peck in Dec 1906. I don't know when either of them died. They had one child, Eunice. Ida D Hilfert born 3 Jun 1876. Married Thomas Francis Walsh? I think I found a newspaper clipping mentioning their divorce. Francis M Hilfert born 27 Dec 1879. Died 9 Jul 1893 Never married. Albert Otto Hilfert (Burt) was born 29 Jul 1882. He married Amanda Nickish about 1910. Died 11 Mar 1957 in California (about a month before my mother was born). I have never been able to find any information about his wife or her death. I don't believe they ever had children. Edward Charles Hilfert born 30 Sep 1886. He married Kathryn B McDonough in about 1919. They never had children. I have found many articles about him, including one about his estate that mentions Eunice, my grandmother, and your father. I have attached it. It is a little hard to read. Mildred Mathilde Hilfert was born 27 Apr 1890. She died in Ohio 24 Aug 1949. She never married. I found a really nice obituary written about her in the Cleveland newspaper. Marcellite Ione Hilfert was born 23 Jan 1896. She married Desmond Ray Gannon 14 Nov 1927 in Cleveland Ohio. She died 1 Nov 1942. My grandmother said she was always very sickly after she gave birth to her.

Hilfert, was Ida's son. I knew her brother, Ed Hilfert, who died in 1959. I knew Mildred (sister) when I was very young. Charles and Caroline were my great grandparents and your great, great, great grandparents. So we are somehow related--I didn't know that I had any relatives left from the Hilfert family. I knew of one cousin of my father's. Her name was Eunice Nance (possibly nee Peck). I have a photograph of the family taken in 1903 with Marcellite as a little girl with long blond curls.

Surnames: Hilfert Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.dane/3042.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Ida is my great grandmother's sister, which makes her my great grand aunt. Ida's sister, Marcellite Ione Hilfert, was the youngest in 8 children in her family. Their parents were Charles Henry Hilfert born 29 March 1845 in Langenbielau, Silesia, Prussia and Caroline Helen Mory born 9 Sep 1850 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marcellite died when her daughter (my grandmother)was 12 years old (1942). My grandmother knew very little of her mother's family. I recently became interested in genealogy and have discovered a lot about the Hilfert family that my grandmother (Ruth) never knew. She passed away in 2002. I would be happy to share any information you might be interested in. I have found quite a bit in the past couple of years. It is so nice to make a connection with someone who shares common ancestors!
