Your husband's g-g-grandmother Catherine Leah Bradley is a sister of my grandmother Sarah (Bradley) Nutting who is also buried in the Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. Also, buried there, as you may already know, are Catherine Leah's sisters Elizabeth (Bradley) Chadbourne and Clara (Bradley) Alberts as well her two brothers Isaac and William. As I recall all their graves are located in the same area and in close proximity to each other. Mabel Alice Slawson was called Brownie (many relatives never knew her name was Mabel). Brownie had two daughters both of whom are living and remember their cousin who was called Bradley, his first two wives, your mother-in-law Geraldine and her brother Kent and the two children of Bradley's second wife from a previous marriage. My husband born in 1945 would have been your mother-in-law's second cousin. Catherine Leah Bradley was my huband's great grandmother. I sent your "query" on to a descendant of Roy and Elizabeth Slawson who has an extensive Slawson family tree. It goes back many generations before Catherine Leah and William Slawson. Like you I am an outsider, a Bradley descendant only through marriage. The Bradley researchers are definitely a fun and knowledgeable group. Thanks for the info. I have taken a trip to Madison and Sun Prairie and have photos as well, but would really like to see the ones you have. My great grandmother was Anna M. Bradley and her mother was Mariah (or Maria as she was called.) Recently my great aunt sent me photos, diaries and newspaper clippings about her and William. As soon as I figure out my new scanner, would be happy to send them to you and anyone else with an interest. Joe Chase, the mayor of Sun Prairie, is also related to this family as is Mary Quirk Thompson, whom I have forwarded this message to. Do you have any data about Mariah's first husband and family? Her maiden name was Shortall and her other husband was a Fogarty/Forgerty as written on her marriage license to William Bradley. would you like a copy of that? I am new to this list, and am looking for my ggrandmother, Anna Amundson (md. Ole Oihus about 1869) There is a family on the 1860 census including Anna, age 11, father Peder Amundson(62), mother Engene (49), siblings Amond (24), Martha(23) ,Seiver(20), Lars(15), Peder(8), & Colben(5). They were in Dunkirk, Dane county, page 70. This family was all born in Norway, so must have come to this country after 1855 when their youngest was born. I do not know if this is her, but is the only possibility I have found. Does anyone know anything about this family, or can someone with availability to local records please check on them for me? Are their marriage records available for that time (1869)? Thanks very much in advance. D Griffith South Dakota ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
