Mr. Andrews was known to many Evansville people. He was a former resident of Brooklyn, where he founded the Duplex Windmill Company and established a factory many years ago. Later the company and the business moved to the city of Superior, where a large business has been developed. It has been conducted by the Andrews brothers, two of whom, Wallace and Byron are still living. Mr. Andrews is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Geiger, living at Thorpe, Wis. Mr. Andrews was brought back to Brooklyn for burial. Author: RuthAnnMontgomery Surnames: Andrew Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.dane/5745/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Iroquois Catastrophe The recent holocaust at the Iroquois theatre in Chicago strikes nearly every town within a radius of 200 miles of that place. While in many instances no victims in any particular locality were caught, but friends were to be found everywhere. Evansville was fortunate this time. Brooklyn lost Miss Hattie Andrews who was formerly a resident there, but of late a nurse in Chicago. Her remains were interred in Brooklyn cemetery, Monday last. Janesville lost two young men, one being in business there and the other a mere lad. Pen cannot portray the serious fire and its consequences as it struck too keenly the hearts of many, but it is to be hoped that a valuable lesson in the building of future theatres will be gleaned from this. January 7, 1904, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wisconsin. Harriet E. Andrew In the sudden death of Miss Harriet E. Andrew, whose home was formerly in Brooklyn, but of late years in Chicago, a bright and prosperous life was ended. A victim of the Iroquois disaster made her death more appalling to her many friends. Miss Andrews was well known in Evansville for years. She possessed the chracteristics of true noble womanhood; of a kindly and sympathetic temperament, truly chracteristic of the vocation of a trained nurse, which line she followed while in the city of her adoption. Her remains were interred in the Brooklyn cemetery and were followed to her last resting place by a large concourse of friends. The sympathies of many friends are extended to the family of the bereaved in this their deep sorrow. January 7, 1904, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wis. He was born in Vermont in 1824. According to a Cambridge, New York newspaper...Nathan Mason, of "Madison, Wisconsin," and Elizabeth Gifford, of Cambridge, NY, married Feb 26, 1856, at White Creek, NY. I found an index to the 1855 Wisconsin State Census stating that there was a Nathan Mason living in Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin page:005. Does anyone know how/where to view a copy of the actual census? I am looking for anything about Nathan living in Madison. He could have lived there since he was a child, or only for a year or two. Any info would be wonderful! Thanks. kate mason Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Firstly, I live about 10 miles from Buhl, and have info on Tony Sartori, along with his brothers, Joseph, John, Alphonso, & Lodovico (who stayed in Italy). Lino was Joseph's son. I had contacted your father years ago and he sent me a voice cassette giving me some info on him, but don't remember if he gave me info on you and your siblings. I'll have to track it down for another listen. My aunt, who also works with me on this family history, went to Wisconsin and met with your parents awhile back also. I'll track down anything I have on your father & grandfather, along with my line and if you need me to check anything in Buhl or at the Ironworld site in Chisholm, let me know. My father was Joseph Sartori, born in Buhl in 1917. My family still runs Sartori Foods (former name was S&R Cheese Corp.) in Plymouth, Wisconsin. My brother Jim is the president of the company. I have 7 siblings. I know almost nothing about the Buhl branch of the family except that my grandfather, Paul Sartori and his cousin Tony S. ran the grocery store there. So, Lino Sartori was your grandfather--what was his relation to my grandfather? I live in Darlington, southwest Wisconsin. Born in Plymouth in 1942. I work at Lands End in Dodgeville WI as a customer sales rep. Where do you live? I'd be interested in hearing any more info you have about the family!
