They had a son who appears to be their only child, LaRue Adrion Hollenbeck b. 6 Sept 1900 Spink South Dakota. It looks like the whole family moved to SD! Hattie and John were in Aberdeen Brown Co SD in 1910, in Corson Co. in 1920 and 1930. Hattie died 23 Mar 1953 in Spink Co. SD and John died 4 Dec 1949 in Beadle Co SD. L.A. Hollenbeck married Marian Grismer 17 Aug 1924 Edmunds SD. In the 1930 census they were living in Watuaga SD where he was a bank cashier. They lived NEXT DOOR to the household where my father Ralph Geary (22)was a boarder so he would have known them! L.A Hollenbeck moved to eastern SD where he was a bank president. He died sometime before 1961. I don't think he and Marian had any children. If you google L.A. Hollenbeck you get some references. Frederick Udell was married to Teresa L. and they were farming in Faulk SD in the 1900, 1910, 1920 censuses. Only Teresa is listed in the 1930 census. Fred died 28 Feb 1930. They did not have any children listed. I can't find any reference to Oscar after the early WI censuses. Frank and Minnie had 4 children but you may know that already, Cyrus Earl, Edwin Emory(b.1 Aug 1886), Raymond Reuben(b. 24 Jul 1897) and Ruby Mildred(b.9Dec1889). Cyrus Earl married Carrie Pearl Payne 2 Aug 1905 and had two sons LaReine C. and Lester. Carrie died in 1918 and he married Marie Peterson. LaReine married Lenolda Sompson 7 Oct 1928 in Brown Co. SD and that's where they were living in 1930. Lester married Emily Herzog 11 Mar 1929 in Corson Co but they lived in Grant Co ND. In 1930 they were living in Shields Grant Co. ND and had one daughter Ardyce. Ruby Mildred Udell married Beryl L. Vandeventer (spelled Vanderventis in the record) 7 Jun 1911 Spink Co SD. Ruby died Aug 1981 Morton Co ND and Beryl died Jul 1975 Morton Co ND. They appear to have had two children: Howard LeRoy and Donald. I found an obit for Howard which is quite helpful. I'll try and email it to you. Edwin E. Udell died 21 Aug 1964 in San Diego CA but I don't know anything else. The Wisconsin to Dakota migration is so interesting and especially finding your people next door to my father.I've exhausted the information about my people so it's fun to work on other families. Ooops!! I wonder if there is burial information for Cyrus Udell and Amelia and Jessie. There appears from the old plat book that there is a cemetery down the road from where their farm was. I have been searching for the parentage of Cyrus Udell and I think it is Cyrus W. Udell and Martha Marsh. Confirmation some day would be lovely. I think contact with any living descendents might help and maybe I should look for Frank and Fred in South Dakota. Would there by any descendents in the area do you think? Do you know who Fred, Hattie and Oscar married. That seems like a lot to ask, but you never know. Thank you so much for your reply. 3. I have a photocopy of a booklet on the history of the Lutheran Church in Springdale. Here's what I found on your family: A Kittle Lurass was a "late immigrant" lured to America by the earlier immigrants. He was here at least by January 18, 1851 when he is listed as providing support for a visiting pastor and a religious school. There is also a wedding picture, probably about 1900 vintage, of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kittelson. She was Carrie M. Lee. That's all I have from that booklet. perhaps if you writed to the Springdale Lutheran church, they may have some records to connect your family. Ames, the youngest son of Rev. War vet Nathaniel Ames of Oregon, Dane, WI. Ira was my 2-great grandfather who died at Corinth, MS after the Battle of Shiloh in the Civil War. He and his wife Sarah Ann Brooks were married in Boonville, NY, and moved to Oregon, WI with Nathaniel in 1844. Ira and Sarah moved to Fairfield, Sauk Co., WI prior to the Civil War, and the family is buried at Russell's Corner's Cemetery in Fairfield Township. Ira has a stone at cemetery, but is buried near Cairo Natl Cemetery in Cairo, IL. There son Edgar was one of the first soldiers to die in the war (2 Jan 1862)and is buried at Arlington, VA, but has a stone at Russell's Corners. 3. Hi Margo Nothing much to report other than that John Smith's son the first Cheney/China Smith also was in the Rev. War. Bonnie had been doing a computer search to see if anyone else has posted this line. As you will see below she didn't come up with anything other than that her independent work confirms what you already have. See below. She also found that Josiah Jr was in Lake Mills in 1854. There is an article in a Jefferson History book about his brother Harvey. I also have asked one of our CGAHS members who is a DAR member to check to see if the application was filed. Now I will be the one to go to work. As soon as I can fit it in, I will go to the Wsiconins Historical Library and check the DAR records to see if anyone else has filed with John Smith or Chaney Smith for an ancestor. I will also go to Jefferson and see if there are any records for Josiah. Found some burials (as well as Cheney who for certain died in 1831 Oneida Co.). Followed Ebenezer & Charles' children a bit to see what was going on with them. Looks like Cheney was living with Charles in early census and Cheney may have remarried after the death of Lydia Potter. Cheney was a Capt. in the Rev. War. Do you have that? After Dad died, Charles and family took off for Kane Co, IL, where they died. Ebenezer died in Oneida Co. 1842. Ebenezer and Charles married Ayer girls. I think they were sisters. I've picked up some history about the family that may or may not be included in The Smith Genealogy. Yes, I saw the Munson connection but didn't copy. I can do that if you like. I would only want the extended Smith family if in some way it would help Elaine. It's a lot to enter so if she already has it, I should spend time in another way. Strangely, this Smith work was not hard. Brown was impossible! But these guys were right where they were supposed to be in every census. Badda bing, badda boom!
