The 1870 census for the Town of Albion (Post Office is Edgerton) Dane Co. WI lists an Ira Ames, age 28, a farmer, born in Pennsylvania His wife is listed as Caroline who is age 22, also born in Pennsylvania. If you will e-mail me direct I can send an article in PDF from the Madison newspaper in 1953 regarding the surname Palon, from Edgerton, and a marriage. Perhaps you can contact someone who has that surname. It is not very common and I believe it to be Irish. marana@tds.net Sandie Nancy Fermazin wrote: > Looking for the marriage record of Cornelia PALON and Ira Daniel AMES. > They were married on 25 Jun 1868 in Dane County according to entry in a > family Bible my cousin has in her possession but all the entries in the > Bible are in same handwriting so it looks like everything was put in at once > many years after the marriage. > > I have not been able to find the marriage certificate for this couple. Looking for the marriage record of Cornelia PALON and Ira Daniel AMES. They were married on 25 Jun 1868 in Dane County according to entry in a family Bible my cousin has in her possession but all the entries in the Bible are in same handwriting so it looks like everything was put in at once many years after the marriage. I have not been able to find the marriage certificate for this couple. I do not know what religion they were or if married in a church. Looking for information on Cornelia PALON. Know nothing about the PALON family. No idea if they were long term residents of Dane County Wisconsin. Ira served in the Civil War and signed up in Dane County. The couple lived in Dane, Rock, and Jefferson Counties in Wisconsin. They lived in Milton Junction, Albion, and Lake Koshkonong. Cornelia Palon died in Jefferson County at Lake Koshkonong, Wisconsin in a sad situation. Ira died 21 Sep 1895 in Albion, Dane, Wisconsin

As for the Long family I have a copy of the marriage certificate (somewhere) of Charlotte W. Moore to Eli Long and 2 eyewitnesses to Eli's accident that killed him in NY. Followed Charlotte to Wisconsin where she married Andrew Damp. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have a question for you. I also want to thank you for the information on my AMES/CAMPBELL families. I found the probate listing for my great grandmother, Julia Ames. I would like to know where I could go to order the information. I have the box number. The LDS did film her husband's records but did not film her probate or her son's probate. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more information. I have the box numbers for the probate. I also found my great grandfather Ira Ames in the probate of his father Adolphus Ames and the guardian assigned was Harvey Campbell. However by the time Ira was 20 years old he was signed into the Civil War by a John AMES and I could not find out why he had a new guardian. Any suggestions on where I would research this? My ancestor Andrew Ames or also went by Andrew Jackson Ames was in the Insane asylum in Dane county Wisconsin. he had been married to Anna Bentley on 19 Oct 1873 and Maud Alvina 6 july 1900. He died in the insane asylum. I would like to know as much about him as it gives. He was my great uncle. He was born in Mc Kean County PA on 1848 He was orphaned in Wisconsin in 1854. The only clue I have found for their wedding date is in the 1930 census when they are in Watertown City Jefferson Co. WI (where they were in 1920 as well). The 1930 census lists date of first marriage as 21 for Matilda and 27 for Halbert. The 1900 census gives Matilda's birthdate as 1881 so that would make it 1902 depending on time of the year. 1900 census and WWI draft reg. give Halbert's birthdate as June 1875 so that would also agree as 1902. I haven't found them in the 1910 census. Barbara Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. What's your reference for the Halversons living in Sun Prairie in 1900. I checked the 1900 US Census for Wisconsin and could not locate Halbert or Matilda Halverson, have you confirmed there location by the census? Is it possible they lived in the rural area around Sun Prairie in one of the townships, but had a Sun Prairie postal address? Most of the Norwegian families lived in the townships of Bristol or York near Sun Prairie. More information may help locate them. Plus why do you and this Jinger person (guy/girl not sure) do this, if you don't get some joy out of helping others? I don't get it! Yes it's hard work to do the research, we've all spent countless hours doing it, but it's great joy when you're able to help someone out that couldn't find info. themselves, isn't it? If not, then don't do it anymore! You both are NOT reading what I was asking for either. I was trying to get info. on the Uncle, the brother of my mom, I had no info. on him, but birth and death. I had heard that he had kids, so I was trying to find out if they were still alive, and I did. Thankfully someone was nice of enough to help me out with that, giving me names, dates, addresses, etc. That is what it is all about being on these boards, if you want to cluck, or claw like cats, then why don't you do that some place else. How childish of both of you t! o do this I think. You too, please do NOT respond to any of my emails if you see them on the boards. I have asked this Jinger person to do the same. I'm sure that there's people out there they are willing to help, unlike you two who obviously have nothing better to do than to email me with this crap. This whole thread and all of the other posts over the last few years on the other board/boards need to be printed and sorted out and studied. I understand where Jinger is coming from on this. I think that I did not return to the board after a certain amount of time, gave up. I was not getting anywhere with any of the info. I was given. I apologize if I was rude. It is very frustrating as you know, trying to piece all of this together when there are so many deaths in your family. There are so many unanswered questions, and with all the loss I'll probably never get a real answer from anyone. Again I'm sorry if I was rude back then. I did obtain a lot of info. from others that was helpful. I am still at a loss with Sidney though, can't get a name of his wife, or even find out if he had one. Also can't find out if they had kids, and if so are they still possibly living. I will keep plugging away at it, and hopefully come up with something. I did contact a newspaper in Fisher, or just outside of it I think, I don't know IL well at all. We'll see if they come up with anything that can help. Thank you for ALL your! help if I did not say that at some point, I do appreciate it. It is nice to know that there are people like you that still help other out when they need it.
