I don't believe I've posted my Columbia Co. family information yet. My g-g-grandparents were Dennis and Catherine Cushing (aka Cushion and Cussen). They arrived in Fort Winnebago in the late 1840s with several of their children. Their sons, John and William, also moved to the area (they were all neighbors) in the 1850s and 1860s. My great grandfather, Francis, was a blacksmith's apprentice in Portage City, then moved to Nebraska with his brother, Adam. We've been in contact with descendants of William, Adam, Francis, and Mary. Through 1880, this was the only Cushing family in Portage/Fort Winnebago. I've put more complete information on my web site: http://www.cushings.com/roots/ . I haven't studied all of the census information for the whole family because there were so many of them. I've focused on my direct ancestors, Francis (ggfather) and Dennis and Catherine (gggparents) and do have census records through 1880, after which these three were either deceased or no longer in Portage.
