Hello I have been trying to get the naturalization papers for one of my g-g-g-grandfaters, Lewis KENSEL(E) but have had no luck. I know that he and his family emigrated to the states about 1853 from East Prussia. Their first child born in the USA was in WI in1855. I'm assuming that they were living in Columbia County, but they could have been in a nearby county. The KENSEL(E) family was listed in the 1860 Census (Columbus, Columbia County, WI). Lewis (43), Mary (36), John (11), Mimmie (9), Mary (5), George (3), and Susan (1). I would appreciate any feedback or in general, the route of German immigrants to WI during this time.
