    3. Time for a little fun. Found these in some clippings from newspapers. Hope all are having a good day. I checked the subscriber list today. For a new list we have about 20 people, so lets start chattering. It would be nice if everyone sent a little introduction of themselves to the list. Don't forget to mention the area and surnames of Clark County which you research. Will write more as time permits. Gena Listowner *********************************** Excerpts from Oct 9, 1996 Clark County Press: In Oct. 1896: Silver dollars of the 1896 coinage are already in circulation here, as are the $5 silver certificates. Electric lighting was put into the Gates house, soon to be occupied by J. R. Sturdevant. Humbird town board passed an ordinance forbidding the riding of bicycles on the sidewalk. Some tramps made a raid upon some of J. Hahn's valuabel chickens Sunday night. G. Idle of Withee wagered his horse cart and $20 against the mule cart and $20 of T. Thompson. The wager was that Thompson could make it to Neillsville and return in less time than Idle. Mr. A. Peterson held the stakes. The parties started on their journey. Mr. Idle continued thus winning the wager, but owing to a peculiar circumstance connected with the affair the victor settled for $10. Articles of incorporation of the St. Hilare Lumber Company were filed. Incorporators are: Frank P. Hixon of LaCrosse, Daniel J. Arpin and Edmund P. Arpin.
