Thompson, proprietor of a saloon in Withee, Clark County, was born in Northern Norway, November 19, 1841, the son of Austin Thompson, deceased. Thomas came to the United States in 1866, and first lived at Lock Rose, Wisconsin. He has worked in the pineries nearly all his life, in both the old country and this State. He came to Withee in 1883, where for three or four years he was foreman in different camps, and for about thirteen years worked for C. C. Washburn, the noted millionaire and lumberman. He began his present business in 1883, and now keeps all kinds of imported and native wines and liquors, but never sells to an intoxicated man. If a man becomes drunk he takes him into his house, feeds him, and takes care of him until he becomes sober. He is a jolly old bachelor, and is a member of the Wisconsin Anti-Prohibition Association.
