W. Kollath officiated at funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Tischendorf, 71, in Peace Evangelical and Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17. Burial was in the Peace Church cemetery under the direction of Fuchsgruber Funeral Service, which had charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Richard Schmidt, Clyde Pope, and Joe Konecny, Jr., Dorchester; Art Gurney, Joseph Gurney, Janesville, and George Gurney, Neillsville. Mrs. Tischendorf died at the home of her son, George, Thursday morning, May 15. She had suffered a long illness, and succumbed to anemia fatally complicated by her age. Martha E. Haufe was born July 10, 1880 in Germany and came to this country with her parents at the age of six years. The family resided in New Jersey one year before moving to a farm in the town of Little Black, where she spent her youth. She was married to Richard Tischendorf in Zion Lutheran Church, Stetsonville and they settled on a farm in the Town of Holton, now operated by her son, George, where she spent the rest of her life. Her husband died Dec. 20, 1938. Surviving besides her son George, are a daughter Mrs. Fred (Anna) Kaufman, Colby, six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Charles (Ida) Johnson, Stetsonville. One daughter died in infancy, and a sister and a brother also preceded her in death. Persons from out-of-town attending the funeral included Mrs. Edward Hawver, Chicago; Mrs. Charles Bantier, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gurney, Mr. and Mrs. Art Gurney, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tischendorf, Minocqua; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Juedes and Leroy, Wausau.
