Dean PINGEL officiated, and Sally Becker was organist for congregational singing. Burial was in the City Point Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie SCHUTZ, Mike and Justin BRUSKY, Chuck THOM, Jerry RESHEL and Bill FRUEHBRODT. Joe STEPONIK was born April 3, 1939 in the Town of Komensky, Jackson County to Joseph and Vlasta (HALIK) STEPONIK. He was educated at City Point and Pittsville schools. He was married to Sheila LOOMIS Nov 30, 1974 at Christ Lutheran church, Marshfield. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1999. Joe was employed in moss harvesting and pulping, then worked for Nelson Muffler in Neillsville (Clark Co., WI). From 1973-1983 he was employed at Sullivan Construction in Wisconsin Rapids and then for Treiweiler Construction in Marshfield. His last employment was in building construction for Consolidated Papers. Joe retired in September 1997, and was a member of Laborers Union Local 1407 in Wisconsin Rapids. Joe enjoyed working in his garage, riding his motorcycle, hunting and fishing, especially salmon fishing at Algoma. He is survived by his wife Sheila STEPONIK of City Point; three sons, Joseph Dale (Tammy) STEPONIK of City Point, Randy (Lois) STEPONIK of City Point, and Rick STEPONIK of Granton; three grandchildren, Clifton, Samantha and Leanne; his mother, Vlasta STEPONIK of City Point; one sister, Margaret (Roger) SANGER of Marshfield; three brothers, Tom (Shirley) STEPONIK of City Point; Robert (Mary) STEPONIK of Neillsville (Clark Co., WI), and Don (Darlene) STEPONIK of Osseo. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph STEPONIK, Sr.Buchanan Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. The family requests memorials in Joe's name be sent to Immanuel Lutheran church, Hewitt or St Joseph's Palliative Care, Marshfield.
