Orphanage in Clark County?," was posted by Lucia Yaroch on Tue, 06 Feb 2001 Surname: ALLEN, JACKSON NAME: Lucia Yaroch EMAIL: lucia.yaroch@pfizer.com DATE: Feb 06 2001 QRYTEXT: According to the 1900 US Census, my great-grandparents, Linsworth and Adelaide Allen, lived in Mayville, Clark County. The only Mayville I can find on the modern WI map is in Dodge County. Either the Clark Mayville is very small or the name of the town has changed since 1900. Can anyone help? My great-grandmother died in Clark County in 1900, and my great-grandfather remarried Ola Belle Jackson in 1903, still in Clark County. So the family (and my grandfather, b. 1891) were in the area for at least 3 years, possibly much longer, and I wonder if they left any trace. Does anyone have suggestions of Clark County sources I could consult? In addition, my grandfather, Judson Allen, always said that he was put in a "home" at the time my great-grandfather remarried (he would have been about 12 at that time). Does anyone know if there was an orphanage or a home for wayward youth in Clark County at that time? Thanks, Lucia.
