I think you hit it just right Gena, with your explanation of why families moved out to Washington State and Oregon. Kevin and I have encountered tons of families from Clark County who relocated in these states. Some later dropped down into California as well. Guess it was the thing to do. "Herman Grupp and his family left for Eugene, Oregon will they will live." Thanks Kathy for all of your posts of "OLD NEWS". My ADAMS family went to Eugene Oregon from Thorp in 1900 - 1901. I know of no connection the the GRUPP family but I am curious about other families that left for Eugene or Seattle during the same time frame. Does anyone know of others? Thanks, Jan Slater
Supposedly many people left Clark County to follow the jobs associated with the logging industry and the expansion of the railroads. As these industries moved west, so did many of the families. I'm sure there were other reasons, but this explanation is the one I've always found most plausible. Some of my relatives were also part of the westward migration to WA and OR. Gena

Wi Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Clark/10408 Surname: Mugerauer, Mugrauer, Adams ------------------------- Hi Listers: Does anyone out there know where I could write to find what cemetery holds the remains of Eusebius Mugerauer? He died on 7 May 1903 and his death certificate states that he was buried in Colby which I understand is in Clark Co. I have been told there are two cemeteries in Colby--one a Catholic and one other. I would also like to find out if there are any other family members buried with him. Is there a Catholic Church in Colby? Maybe they would have records of his burial. I believe Eusebius may have been Catholic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Jackie from New Jersey

Wi Biographies Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/ClarkBios/10412 Surname: MEAD ------------------------- I have just moved back to Northville,Fulton county,New York. Unfortunately, all my records are buried in boxes somewhere at this time, but what I can tell you off the top of my head is that the Meads of Fulton county came here after the Revolutionary War from Dutchess county, originally from connecticut where they originally came from england in the mid 1600's. There are several great sources on this; if you're interested, I can dig them up fairly soon. Anyways, I had a great aunt Julia Mead with a brother Clark and sister Dorothy. All born in the late 1800's. Julia is a family name and probably your julia was a generation previous. I enjoyed your Julia's story very much. Thanks, Lore Mead
