    2. Hi Everyone, In case there are any new subscribers here, just a brief run down of what my entries are. I receive 2 newspapers weekly from Clark Co. Wisconsin (I live in CA). Each has an Old Items section which lists many many names. Because of copyright infringements, I type some information from these and mail them to the list in hope they will help someone find some information on their family. Take care! Arthur Hudson and Orea Nye are visiting back home from the Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam. J.H. Monroe was here from Cadott checking out the waterworks system. Walter Holzhausen enlisted and is part of the U.S. Cavalry. 75 YEARS AGO... Herman Annason purchased Geo. Baker's 40-acre farm. Mr & Mrs Emil Ehlert had a son March 17th. Wm. Longhway resigned as electrician of the Northern States Power Co. Mr & Mrs Anton Wilcenski had a baby girl on March 16th. Fred Braatz and his family are moving from Worden to Stanley this week. E.L. Snyder will take a trip down the Mississippi river in his house board as soon as the river is free of ice. Wm. E. McParland sold his drug store last week. Wm. Barrett & crew have the Farmers Store building on skids and moving the building. W.J. Bivans sold his farm home and property to Barney Micke. Mr & Mrs Bivans are staying temporarily with their daughter Mrs. E.F. Halterman and are planning to move to Iowa. H.E. Howard's Barber shop has public baths. 50 YEARS AGO... Catherine E. Conway, age 82, passed away on March 18th. Janice Moen was chosen DAR representative at Thorp High school. Antoniette Kinas, age 90 , died March 10th at her daughter's home, Mrs. Roman Kachmon in Gary, Ind. 25 YEARS AGO... Peter Liszewski, age 89, died in Marshfield on March 17th. Mr & Mrs John Badzinski went to see their new grandson Jamie Patrick Knight. Mr & Mrs Dennis Susa had a son on March 15th. Mr & Mrs Allyn Schlicht had a son on March 17th in Brainerd, Minn. Clarence Markee, age 60, died March 19th in Marshfield. Lillian Strozewski, age 89, died March 7th. 10 YEARS AGO... August Oberle, age 81, died March 26th in Marshfield. Tom & Laurie Osowski became grandparents of twins on March 7th. Mr & Mrs Jim Rowell (Carol Plechacek) had a daughter on Feb. 22nd in Soth Dakota. Henry Hanson, age 76, died March 14th in Worden. Raymond Foster, age 73, died March 19th. Ruby Huls, age 88, died March 26th in Chippewa Falls. Helen Koenig, age 73, died March 22nd in Marshfield. It is located in the Max Weber building. F.S. Grubb leased the red brick store building. Herman Frese sold his home and 2 lots (the old Adams place) to Aug. Doege. Herman Friess and Peter Rasmussen will have a cow auction on April 13th here in the village. 75 YEARS AGO... E.W. Starks, a logger, returned home last week. Also returning home were Everett and Emery Starks, Walter and Milton Lenk, Cecil Wry and Williard Hansen. Friends of Frank Shoemaker helped him move a small building from Bernard Daines farm. Mrs. Isaac P. Drake, died in Stanley last Wednesday. W.C. Butler sold his timber to Thorp Lumber Co. 50 YEARS AGO... Edmund Alger's family lost their home due to a fire on Monday afternoon. Mr & Mrs Steve Jaks had a daughter on March 12th. Mr & Mrs LaVern Haas, had a baby girl on March 22nd. Mr & Mrs Casper Haas Jr. had a daughter on March 23rd. Mr & Mrs Erwin Sniegowski had a son on March 13th in Seattle, Washington. 25 YEARS AGO... Bruno Kobylinski, now living in Chicago, died March 9th in Niles, Michigan. Mrs. Marcella V. Schultz, age 57, died in Chicago. Albert Kulinski, age 16, died March 27th in Marshfield. Mr & Mrs Robert Broeren are celebrating their 50th anniversary on April 10th. UW-River Falls deans list: Diane Ebben, Kathleen Frinack, Jeannie Maslowski, David Sackmann, & Robert Zukowski. Mrs. Clarence Karnopp has a new granddaughter born on March 20th to Mr & Mrs Arlie Christensen Jr. of Montana. Mrs. Effie Petersen, age 85, died March 22nd in Stanley. Peter Liszewski, age 89, died in Chippewa Falls on March 17th. 10 YEARS AGO... Peter John Moskiewicz, age 77, died March 30th in Thorp.     3. Hi, I am a newbie to the list. A Cousin of mine emailed me a obit. of a Kate Mike & I was wondering if anybody would no about her family. She was Winnebago Indian. She came to Clark Co., WI. in 1888. She married John Mike & had 12 children the surviving children were Peter, Jesse & Thomas. I got this info. from her obit. Is there an obit. for John Mike her husband? You see, I have a John Mike in my family (my great grandpa) & he was born abt. 1889 nobody knows what happened to him after he married my great grandma in Minn. 1908. I know this is a shot in the dark but I have been looking for my John Mike for over 20 years. I no that he existed because I have his marriage license (which told me nothing) & I have his picture.     3. I am looking for any information on my grandparents, John and Oline Sjurset, who owned a farm in the Withee/Owens area of Clark County from about 1914 to about 1929. John and Oline both were born in Norway and lived in Lee County, Illinois before moving to Clark County, Wisconsin. They had children Mathilda, Sigurd, Olaf, Melvin (my father), Clara and Margaret when they moved to Withee. Children Harold and Mildred were born in Clark County, Wisconsin in 1917 and 1920 respectively. Any additional information on the Sjurset family in the Clark County area would be much appreciated. I note that among those who attended the funeral were my grandfather's brother Reinhardt Klocke and his daughter Louise Nelson.

Mon 16-Apr 2001 Ervin Bores Ervin C. Bores, 82, of 812 E. 3rd St. died April 13, 2001 at St. Josephs Hospitals Palliative Care Unit, where he was admitted on April 6. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church. Rev. Gary A. Hedding and Rev. Peter Muschinske will officiate. Music will be provided by organist Maldon Plank and vocalist William A. Allen. Pallbearers will be Joey Bores, Scott Bores, Michael Bores, Shane Bores, Larry Bores and Kenneth Bores. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery. American Legion Post 54 will conduct military rites at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rembs/Kundinger Chapel and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Ervin Bores was born June 16, 1918 in Marshfield to August and Bertha (nee Neubauer) Bores. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School, then Purdy School until the tenth grade. Ervin served his country in World War II from 1942-45. He received the Bronze Star for bravery, having fought in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He married Dorothy E. Rydberg on Aug. 28, 1948 in Neillsville. They resided in Marshfield and he began working for the city of Marshfield. Ervin worked for the city for 32 years and retired on June 16, 1980. Ervin enjoyed playing baseball, fishing and hunting. He was known for his beautiful garden and his sense of humor. Ervin loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards and dice with family and friends. Ervin was always a giver not a taker. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866 of Marshfield, American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield and Fraternal Order of Eagles Badger Aerie 624. Ervin is survived by his wife; two sons, Charles (Rosemary) Bores of Marshfield and Jeffery (Mona) Bores of Kewaunee; four grandchildren, Joey, Scott, Michael and Shane; and three great grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler and Emma. He is also survived by four sisters, Eleanor Schnitzler of Marshfield, Katherine Konkel of Chicago, Ill., Lucille Schrader of Marshfield and Elayne (Harley) Loos of Chili; and two brothers, Robert Bores of Marshfield and Gerald (Arvilla) Bores of Stratford. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers. The family will designate memorials in the name of Ervin C. Bores at a later date.

You may want to contact a church to get a copy of there burial report. Also the library might have some kind of burial report for the whole cemetery. I don't forsee that cemetery being transcribed anytime soon. We are in need of more volunteers to complete the cemetery project. Edvard (Edward) Bergstrom (1. Johan, 2. Olof) was born Dec. 1, 1881 in Varnum, Sweden.and immigrated to the USA in 1882. Edward worked for a rug and carpet company in Minn. And later went to Superior, Wi. It was there he met and married Marie Christine Pedersen. on Jan. 10, 1902. Marie was born Sept. 6, 1882 the daughter of Anders and Petrina Jensen Pedersen. Shortly after their marriage, Edward and Marie moved, with her parents and brother Peter to Hixon twp., Clark Co., Wi. And bought a farm just north of Withee. The plat map for Hixon Twp. 1906 lists the farm as belonging to J. Bergstrom with location just north and east of Withee. It is not known , at this time just when the farm was purchased . Anders Pedersen died in 1894, so Petrina lived on the farm with her daughter and son-in-law until her death in 1925. MariesÂ’ brother Peter (Chris) lived with them, also until his death in 1905. They are buried in the Danish Lutheran Church Cemetery in Withee. Edward and Marie had 4 children . Florence Hazel, Harvey William, Frances Harriet (Toots)., and Edward Jr.. Edward Sr. died on Aug. 30, 1923 in a car-train accident in Withee. He died instantly but his passenger, Jens Beck survived. Marie did sewing and tailoring and worked for the Creamery as a bookkeeper. She remarried in 1929. (4.) Florence Hazel Bergstrom (1. Johan, 2. Olof, 3. Edward) was born Nov. 28, 1902 in Hixon Twp., Clark Co., Wi. She graduated from Withee High School and went on to school for 2 years in Minn., Mn. And Appleton, Wi. . On Dec. 19, 1925, she married Charles Henry Purgett who was born Sept. 30, 1899 in Belmont Twp. Iroquois Co., Il. Son of Adrin Eugene and Maud Murphy Purgett of Hixon Twp. Clark Co., Wi. Charles died on Jan. 4, 1967 and Florence died Feb. 20, 1989. They are buried at the Danish Lutheran Cemetery in Withee. They had 5 children. Eugene Edward m. Catherine Blume, Mahlon Lowell m. Marjorie Nelson, Ruby Ann m. Donald Zimmermann, Janey Elaine m. Otto Sauer, and Diane Marie m.1. Robert Neitzel 2. John Kleinke (4.) Harvey William Bergstrom (1. Johan, 2. Olof, 3. Edward) was born March 28, 1905 in Hixon Twp., Clark Co., Wi. On June 7, 1931, he married Ethel Madsen who was born April 7, 1909. They had 2 children. Beverly Joan m. Lloyd Norton and Patricia Leatrice m. Richard Skubis. Harvey died Sept. 28, 1937. Ethel remarried Ove Rasmussen on June 13, 1947. He was born on Nov. 30, 1904. He had several children from his first marriage. (4.) Francis Harriet (Toots) Bergstrom (1. Johan, 2. Olof, 3. Edward) was born May 23, 1911 in Hixon Twp., Clark Co., Wi. . On April 11, 1927 she married Ellsworth Shock who was born April 1, 1909. They made their home in Neilsville, Wi. Ellsworth (Al) owned a barbor shop in town. They had 3 children. Ellsworth Jr. (Junior) m. Shirley Capes, Joyce Beverly m. Edward John Frei, and Nancy Lee m. Richard Allen Brooks. (4.) Edward Bergstrom Jr. (1. Johan, 2. Olof, 3. Edward) was born Jan. 16, 1916 in Hixon Twp., Clark Co. Wi. On Aug. 28, 1939 he married Anita Marie Laabs who was born on March 25, 1915, Eddie and Anita made their home in Owen, Wi. He was the owner of Bergstrom Auto located in Owen. He, also, sold insurance and retired in Florida and Eale River. They had 2 sons. Douglas James m. Margene Pfalzgraf and Randell Lee m. Michele Buller. On Sept. 6, 1929, Marie married Fred Miller in Withee, Wi. He was born April 10, 1876. He was a widower with 6 children. Fred died in 1957 and Marie died May 10, 1958. Both are buried in Danish Lutheran Cemetery. Freds children: Harold Miller Ann Miller m. Chere Armond Miller Alice Miller m. Was married at Waterborough, New Brunswick. Aug 9th, 1832 to Elias Wells Bradley of Bangor Me. who died at Necedah, Wi Mch 13th, 1872. She leaves three daughters: Abigal La Celia who married Larmon Saxton, S. Jane, who married S. Hurd, and Mary Ann who married Joseph Arquette with whom Mrs Bradley lived since the death of her husband.

One being St. Mary's and the other being Colby Memorial. There is a project going on in Clark County to identify all cemeteries and all plot names per cemetery but it is a long way from completion. Depending on the religous affiliation, you may get quicker results via contacting the individual churches in the Colby area. These can be obtained via the internet.
