    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: judysue Surnames: Bauer, Ritch, Schmidt, Laubman, Klimmer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.calumet/81.102.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Joseph & Sophia's daughter Margaretha married Frances Xavier Klimmer, and they were my husband's great-grandparents. I have information on my Ancestry.com tree. Sophia's parents: Christoff Schmidt (died about 1855 in Mecklenberg, Schwerin, Germany) and Sophia Laubman (born 10 July 1811, died 23 Feb. 1882 in De Pere, Brown, WI; buried at Cady Cemetery). After Christof's death in the early 1850's Sophia married Carl (or Charles) Donner and she and her children, along with Mr. Donner, came the United States on the ship "Raleigh", arriving in New York on 12 Jun 1854. They settled in the town of Woodville, Calumet County and later moved to Brown County near De Pere. "There are old markers in Cady or Lawrence Cemetery-- one marked, "Sophia, wife of Carl Donner, Born 10 Juli 1811 and Died 23 Feb. 1882", and the other for "Carl Donner, Death date Oct. 1894." The markers are not standing but buried in the ground and the engraving is not real clear." Sophia's maiden name appears as Laubman on Karoline's death certificate, and as Grabman on Louisa's death certificate. Joseph's parents: Joseph Bauer (born abt. 1802, died 12 June 1886 in St. John, Calument, WI) and Margareta Ritch (born abt. 1804 in Baden, Germany, died 26 Oct. 1883 in St. John, Calumet, WI). I have a small picture of Joseph Bauer (husband of Sophia Schmidt), but none of them together. I would love a copy, and would be interested in exchanging information on this family. My great-great grandmother was Emma Dodge whose father was Leander Dodge- who I have been researching diligently through WI and MI., what brought me to the Eastman family name is that I remember as I was growing up being told that the Dodge's and Eastman's were connected. The De Roo thing comes in when Emma Dodge (born in WI, 1872) daughter of Sarah Dodge and Leander Dodge, sister of Daisey and Charles Dodge, marries a Abraham De Roo in Wisconsin...my grandfather's father. So hard to do this..but thought I would write. I know it is far flung- but after pouring over a zillion sort of leads...on Ancestry- hard to know where to follow-up. Thanks much, Susan De Roo Sweigart, aka (De Roo- Dodge) susan.deroo@gmail.com Thanks- Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
