My great grandmother's sister was Kathryn Nadler and she married a Joas. I know the spelling of Kathryn can vary and I don't know the first name of the Joas she married. Kathryn most likely was born in Chilton which is near Stockbridge. Not sure if this is right or not. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He married my great, great grandmother Anna Maria Linnemaki in Alajarvi Finland, and emigrated to the US in 1911. I believe he was originally from Veteli Finland, but his family was suppose to be Swedish. His father was Andrew Joas and mother Mary Linnemon? Vesti made passage for my grandmother and their two-year old daughter Aune in 1913. I believe they may have gone to Nelsonville, Ohio to be with relatives (sister Anna and brother in-law Matti). Their second daughter was born in St. Louis County, Wisconsin. Vesti sadly died in 1916 from black lung working in the coal mines. All I have from him is a photo of him in the hospital with his young family. I would appreciate any information anyone might have on these Joas from Finland. My email is degroot_jennifer@yahoo.com. Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.calumet/1113.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Community Guidelines (see link below on any message board page), while not written in stone, direct you to please not cross-post. Cross-posting is posting the same message on more than one board. The problem with posting the same thing on multiple boards is someone might not check your posting history, and see the query was already answered, or that a dialog is already established. Someone might waste their time researching info you've already learned on another thread. Keeping the conversation on your topic in one place helps everyone. It's a simple concept, post your query on the board that best suits it. Include the surnames mentioned in you post, in the surname box. If you have mention Tom Jones and John Smith in the body of your post, then include Jones, Smith, Smythe, Smithe (etc). This enables the indexing to help others searching same name find yours. If you think you've posted on the wrong board or find one that's better suited post-posting, simply hit the "report abuse" link in your post and request the board admin to move it to the board of your choice, be sure and include the path to the board. If you're not sure what area in a State a person might be found, then post on the State's General board. As you learn more you can have the post moved to a more specific locality if needed. I've posted on the other thread. If you have more unanswered questions, then post what they are. It helps to understand what you already know, and where you've already searched. I have obits that have one spouse buried in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Potter while the other spouse is listed to be buried in the same cemetery name but in Rantoul. Are these truly the same church and cemetery? Is this a confusion by using a village name for it in one instance and a township name in the other? Did Trinity undergo a name change or move? Or is it something totally different? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: PattyKrueger10 Surnames: Duernberger Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.calumet/1108/mb.ashx Message Board Post: What newspaper would contain obituaries for Brillion, in the 1880's? (I am not local, is it online?) Does someone have access to an index of obituaries that they could check if there is one for Maria Duernberger, wife of John Duernberger? She was born in Bavaria abt 1806, maiden name unknown, and we assume she died in Brillion (last seen in 1880 census) between 1880 and 1885. We don't have a death record either. At some point I am hoping to do a research trip to the area (although Manitowoc Co. is more where I am focusing, it seems as though there was a lot of county line crossings for marriages, etc.).
