Surnames: PITTS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZEC.2ACE/1191 Message Board Post: James Pitts, a great-granduncle, son of William Pitts and Ann Fisher, died in Dallas Township, Barron Co, on 26 Dec 1911 at age 50. His death certificate indicates he was married but gives no clue to his wife's name. The undertaker was D. F. Blyton of Ridgeland, and he is buried at Evergreen Cemetery. James was listed with his parents on the 1870 census in Barron Co. In 1880 he was with my great-grandparents in Sauk Co. He briefly homesteaded in McHenry County, ND, and then sold the property to his uncle, William R. Pitts. This was in 1888/89. The sale document indicated he was single at that time. And that's the last I find of him until his death in Barron Co in 1911. I have searched the 1900 and 1910 censuses with no luck. Are the undertaker's records still in existence and can they be reviewed? If anyone can tell me his wife's name, when and where they were married, if they had any children, or anything else about him, I would sincerely appreciate it.
