Thompson Hi Donald, Thanks for writing and sharing with us what your brick wall is. I haven't been able to find anything that would help you as far as finding a death date for Julia. I realize that these early deaths are very hard to track. The land description tells us that they lived in the township of Prairie Farm (section 2). Do you have any idea which cemetery Jesse was buried in? Did they have children that this land would have been passed down to? Did the Harmon family stay in Barron Co. or did they move on after Jesse died? If you have any answers to these questions, it may help us to track the information down. Anyone else have any ideas to help Donald? -- Take Care, Nance mailto:nsampson@spacestar.net !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi everyone. My name is Shanna Cover. I am researching the Kittelson family, Zemke family, and the Sass family. All the families are on the large side so it has been kind of hard to get in contact with everyone. Every once and a while I come across a new branch. As our family has it the Zemke's and Sass's helped start the Silver Creek Church in Barron County. Just last summer I was able to visit the church and the home place. The home place is just down the road from the church. Any help that I could get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for keeping the list up. It has been a help. Shanna Cover LLkisses@aol.com
Hi Nance, I was just wondering how you were doing at updating some of the cemeteries in Barron County. I would be interested in Wayside Cemetary in Barron and also St. Joes in Rice Lake. I may also have relatives in Turtle Lake and Almena, and maybe Arland. Not sure if they have a cemetary but most small places do. Thanks yvonne
My name is Donald J. His wife Julia N. Harmon registered the land parcel to her name as widow of Jesse Harmon 1 April 1874. I am attempting to secure information as to his burial and the date of death and burial of Julia N. Harmon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Donald J. The schools in the city of Rice Lake in that era were Jefferson, Lincoln and Jefferson (elementary schools); and Washington High School. There was also the Barron County Normal School, also known as the "training school," which prepared teachers-to-be for teaching. This Barron County WI website also lists quite a few of the old rural schools in Barron County, in the "Schools" section. You might find something that rings a bell. (That list isn't completed yet, and might not include Prairie Farm-- but I don't remember hearing of a "Prairie Farm Heights" school in the county.
