Louis immigrated in 1892 and married Anna Wald from Germany also. She was b. 1875, Louis in 1877. Her family was from Austria even though she was born in Germany. They had five children, Marie b. 1902, Veronica, b. 1906, Albert, (my father) b. 1909, Clarence b. 1913, and Joseph b. 1916. They all lived in Rice Lake where my grandfather was superintendent of the municipal water and electric company. Veronica married Louis Melotik, b. July 7, 1902. I have not traced his kin yet, maybe you can help me fill in some blanks. Anyway, Louis and Veronica had six sons, all of whom are still living. Louis died in 1966. They stayed in the state of Wisconsin. Hope they helps. Are we related that you know of?

My great-grandfather was Frank Melotik. He and a few of his 15 brothers and sisters settled in Milwaukee in the late 1890's and early 1900's. I'm anxious to learn of your connection to them. Thanks Jim

Surnames: ASLIN, TUCKER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZEC.2ACE/1175.1.1 Message Board Post: Well, I just found another tidbit... 1910 Census for Wisconsin, Barron County, District 19 (Rice Lake city, wards 3 & 4), page 23 lists [on Phipps Ave] Dwelling number 43 as having two families: Fam #48: Tucker, Simon P., 75 yrs old, married for 55 yrs to [wife] Susan, 70? yrs old, having had 12 children, 8 of which were living (in 1910), living with [Son] Chester, 49, [grand-daughter] Susan, 14, and [grand-son] ? (can't read it very well). Fam #49: Ashlin, Henry, 29 yrs old, married for 5 yrs to [wife] Minerva, 32, having had 2 children, both of which were living (in 1910), living with [son] Raymond, 11, and [daughter] Vera, 2. Evidently, the info I had on her having a large family referred to her parents and siblings. Raymond was evidently from her former marriage, either to Leon, or her first husband (still need to coordinate the logistics on that). Vera was Henry and Minerva's child. Coincidently, the next dwelling lists a Tucker, Edward, age 31, married for 11 years to A?natie, age 30, 4 children: Arthur, 10; Iva, 8; Herald, 4; Vivian, 2. Simon P. Tucker was born in New York, as were his parents. Susan Tucker was born in Pennsylvania, as were her parents. Edward appears to be Minerva's brother, based on his proximity, his age, and the listings of his parents' birthplaces. Edward was working as a laborer in the cement trade, Henry was a carpenter, I think Chester worked in a saw mill. I'm working from an electronic image of the Census document, and of course the recorder had only average handwriting, so some of the record is not clear. Henry Joseph Ashlin was my wife's paternal great-grandfather. (Guess we got the connection, now, huh?) :^) How are you related to Minerva? Dave

According to the 1880 census, my relative Minerva L. Tucker was born ca. 1877, dau. of Simon Peter Tucker and Susan Harmon(y). According to the marriage records on the Barron Co. USGenWeb site, Leon Aslin married a Minerva Tucker on 3 Apr 1896 (I matched up marriage dates using the site search engine). I had thought this could be my Minerva Tucker marrying at age 19. Now I'm not so sure. You say Minerva Tucker Aslin was already widowed with a large family in 1896. That may not be my Minerva Tucker. It would be interesting to know what the 1900 census says about Minerva Aslin's age and number of children. Jeff

Surnames: ASLIN, ASHLIN, TUCKER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZEC.2ACE/1175 Message Board Post: Jeff, I have SOME further info on Minerva TUCKER... Henry Joseph ASLIN/ASHLIN started a farm about 3-1/2 miles south of Lake Vermillion in Barron County on a 40-acre plot. Evidently, Leon took over the farm from Henry, farmed it for awhile and then married Minerva TUCKER. At the time of this marriage, Minerva was already a widow with a very large family. Circa 1906/1907, Leon was killed while driving a team of horses. In 1907, Henry married his brother's widow, Minerva TUCKER ASLIN. Henry and Minerva had one child, Vera May ASHLIN, on 27 May 1908. Minerva passed away on 26 Feb 1912. I'm still searching for more info on her. Please let me know if you come up with more evidence. I've seen listings of Simon and Susan; I don't know if there's a connection or not. It's the right area. I have access to a picture of Vera May, dau. of Minerva and Henry, from when she was about 7 yrs. old (1915). Let me know if you want to see it. Maybe there's a family resemblence that you can spot.

    3. Dave, Do you have any information on Minerva Tucker who married Leon Aslin? I think I may be related to Minerva -- if she was daughter of Simon Peter Tucker and Susan Harmon(y). I am seeking to confirm her parentage and to know if Minerva and Leon had any descendants. Thank you. Jeff Birdsley ---------------------------------------- Dave wrote: I am looking for any further information on MAGLOIRE ASLIN (also found as MAYLAIRE, MAGLER; may also be listed as ASHLIN, ASSLIN, etc.) who came to Barron County, I believe in the Cumberland area (possibly near, or south of Lake Vermillion, by a place called "French Hill"), around 1889. He apparently came from Quebec (somewhere near Montreal), through the Lake Nebagamon area. He arrived in the Cumberland area with his wife, OLIVINE [PELAN?] (also found as OLIVIEN(E)) and children FREDERICK, JOSEPH, LEON, HENRY JOSEPH, CORA MARIA, and MARY ANNE. The girls later married to become CORA MARIA BUSS and MARY ANNE FLYNN. It would appear that I already have much information on this man, but much of it is hearsay, and has not led me to records of his birthplace, parents, or siblings. I would specifically like any information on where, exactly, his land may have been (or that owned by any of his sons) or anything else related to any of the people mentioned here.
