Louis's parents are Joseph Melotik and Anne Soukup. Joseph was born in Rovne, Slovakia (Austria-Hungary) in 1867 and came to the US in 1891. He and Anne were married in Milwaukee in 1894 and Frank was a witness at their wedding. My father's sister was Veronica (Fronnie) and married Louis Melotik which makes Louis my uncle and Joseph Melotik my great uncle, Anne my great aunt. So that makes us some kind of cousins, hmmm, let's see here, clear as mud. But cousins none the less! Hello cuz, Sallie

My father-in-law (who also is Charles) did a "family tree" a few years back. I'll have to search for those papers to find out more info. The grandfather Melotik would of been born in about 1898. His son Charles was born in about 1922. . Fronnie & Louis don't sound familiar. Who are you and how are you related?

My Grandma, Christine Melotik Higgins, is Charley's older sister. Frank is definitely your husband's great-grandfather. Uncle Charley (he is my dad's uncle) used to work for Ambrosia Chocolate in downtown Milwaukee. He used to give everyone in the family boxes of these incredible slabs of chocolate and nuts for Christmas. Milwaukee had one of the greatest smelling downtowns until the company moved to the suburbs. I and Ken Melotik (Ken is the grandson of Frank's brother George) have been working on the Melotik family and have lots to learn and lots to share. I don't believe that Bertha's name was Higgins, but I do recall that she was part Native American. I'll ask my dad. I would love to talk with you and share as much as we can. Please e-mail me. It's always great to find new(old) family. Jim
