Elias Day and his family moved from Athens Co. OH to Wapello Co. IA in the mid-1850s, and two of his sons moved from there to Wisconsin a few years later -- Daniel to Richland Co. and Calvin to Monroe Co. Calvin was my gr-grandfather. I'm currently working on a DAR application and am stuck on specific evidence linking Elias to his father Samuel Day. The Linda Berg Stafford book printed several versions of the "Lists of 20" -- including copies of lists maintained by member of Daniel Day/Elizabeth Ault's descendants. Through another Day family researcher, I've obtained copies of some of the corresponden ce Ms. Stafford had with Marion Tenwitsch (sp?) which included handwritten transcriptions of the lists, but my DAR mentor is reluctant to accept these as "valid" proofs -- even though I have it on good authority that one other person used these copies successfully in her application! Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone out there has photocopies or photos of the actual Bible those lists of 20 came from? I'm trying to follow up on any and all leads in this respect. In return, or even if anyone is interested, I have lots of info on the Day connections in Monroe Co. WI and Wapello Co. IA. I also have the relevant documentation this family needs for an approved Mayflower application -- if that is of interest to anyone. In addition, I have contact info for other descendants of Daniel Day's sibilings -- including Israel and Eleanor; and also have info on the current gurus of the Loree family--also coveren in the Berg-Stafford book.
