Hello Again, After several suggestions from our patrons, we have added a spouse search to our Wisconsin Pre-1907 Vital Records Index at www.wisconsinhistory.org/vitalrecords. Now if you find a bride or groom, you can click on the spouse search option toward the bottom of the page. The database is then searched for records that have matching dates, counties, volumes and counties to narrow down possible mates. Of course, it is not a perfect search, for three specific reasons. First, not all marriages were indexed under both names. It is not uncommon for the bride to not have been indexed. Second, sometimes there are more than one match to the date, county, volume and page. This is especially true in larger counties. And, finally, there are indexing errors that limit matches. However, we hope this upgrade will make it easier for researchers to figure out which marriage record is the right one, and may even give some leads on spouses. Let me know if you have any questions.
