Gray, the young man from Grand Rapids, Wis., who went to Alaska with a party of Wood County friends in April, 1896, returned home last Sunday morning, to spend the winter and return to Alaska in the spring. He and his companion located two claims and he says made big money. They located their claims in October, 1896, but were unable to work them until February, 1897. In an interview in the Milwaukee Sentinel, he says that he advises no one to attempt to make the trip to Klondike before next spring, for it is impossible to make it. He also advises those who go to go well provided with food and money enough to last them one year at least. The coldest weather they had last winter was 72 below and the average winter weather was 40 below. The mosquitoes and gnats were very bad and a great trial to the miners.
