This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Heitman, Byers Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.adams/2196/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Taken from the August 20, 1937 issue of the Adams Advertiser (Times) Phil HEITMAN dies from yellow jacket sting on August 16, 1937. Mr. HEITMAN was of Quincy and died about 20 minutes after being stung. Phil was at work with others harvesting hay at the time the incident took place. All his life he has been pecularly sensitive to insect stings which affected him more severely than in the case with most people. When stung Monday he was forced to stop work immediately and one of his coworkers started for a nearby house to get some soda, which is recognized as one of the best (palleitives ?? word is difficult to read) of that sort of injury that death came before relief of any sort could reach him. Phil HEITMAN was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charilie Heitman and was some where between 30 and 40 years of age at the time of his death. He was married a few years ago to Miss Nina BYERS, daughter of Mrs. Chris BYERS, and his home was a little west of White Creek in the town of Quincy. He was a world war veteran. It will be recalled that Monday afternoon brought the most oppressive heat that has been experienced in this section even in this very hot season and there is reason to think that heat prostration may have been a strongly contributing factor in bringing death so quickly after the yellow jacket had done its part. The funeral is scheduled to be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the church at White Creek. The Times has no data from which to prepare in adequate obituary of Mr. HEITMAN, which will have to be deferred to a later issue. Please note that I am not related to these people and am a volunteer for the Adams site. Thankyou --- Bob Schieber
