Author: tomfrog2 Surnames: Ferguson, Morse, Haskins, Mead Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.adams/2243/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for Descendants of Mary Ferguson / Haskins / Mead. She was born Mary Ferguson in Wisconsin about 1858 to Nelson and Christina (Morse) Ferguson. Probably in the Grand Marsh area of Adams County. She lived and grew up in the Plainfield, WI area. That is where she married David Haskins. I believe David's father's name may have been Merlin Haskins. These are the children that I found out about through census records. Minnie Haskins b. abt. 1886 Wisconsin Clarence Haskins b. abt. 1891 Wisconsin, Alice Haskins b. abt. 1895 Wisconsin Amos D. Haskins (daughter) b. abt. 1898 They moved from the Plainfield area to Ashland, WI at some point. While in the Plainfield area, David may had been a Teacher in Pine Grove in neighboring Portage County. After David's death, Mary got married to Arthur Mead and eventually moved to Raymond, Washington. Mary and Arthur had a son named Wilbur who died young while in Ashland and daughter named Esther E. Mead b. April 24, 1903, most likely in Ashland. Arthur had a daughter named Helen Pearl Mead from his first wife. Mary was still living in Raymond, WA according to her brothers obit in 1932. Some of the children may have once called the Iron River area of Bayfield County home. They had a grandfather, aunts, uncles and cousins that lived there. I am looking to find anyone who is descended from Mary. I appreciate any help that anyone can provide. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It is often a family story that someone was divorced (sometimes without their knowledge), but divorce required notification in all cases. 1. [WIADAMS] Patterson in Big Flats
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: aesund Surnames: Patterson, Proper, Brown Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.adams/2239/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello All, I may have posted here previously, but am trying again in the hopes that someone may be able to help me locate parents for James Patterson if given additional information. James Patterson is listed in most documents as having a birthdate in 1827, on his military records as having a BD of 1837. He was married to Martha Proper in Malone in 1847, with his residence being listed as Potsdam on the marriage records. In all records thereafter, I find Martha and their daughter Emily living in Malone with her parents. It appears for all practical purposes that she and James were not sharing a residence. James Patterson enlisted in the Union Army in Potsdam in 1861 for a duration of 3 yrs, but was discharged in 1863 d/t illness. On his enlistment papers, his residence was listed as being Potsdam, NY and his occupation was listed as "farmer". At some point after this, James moved to WI near the area of Big Flats. He obtained a divorce from Martha in Waupaca, WI in 1867 (again no evidence that she moved with him) and married Susan Brown that same year. They had 6 children. James died in 1908 and is buried in the Big Flats cemetery. I have no names for James's parents, but on census records, their birth places are alternately listed as NH and NY for his father and VT and NY for his mother. I continue to be at an impasse with this issue, but remain hopeful that eventually, this might ring a bell with someone else out there! Many thanks, Adrienne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
