The building was financed and the construction supervised by O L Hotz, after whose son, Loren, the building has been named. Work was started on the foundation in the spring of last year by Karl Hanson, who suicided about a year ago, and then the contruction was carried on by the architect, Albert Bjooras, of Chippewa Falls. Mr Hotz himself personally supervised the completion of the hotel. The hotel is of brick and tile construction, 50 by 60, full basement and two floors. On the front is a double porch 40 by 114. All the equipment and accoutrements of the building are modern in every respect, steam heat, electric lights, hot and cold running water and individual telephones in each room. The basement which is occupied by Mr Underwood's barber shop and billard parlor and soda fountain, is also fitted with shower baths in connection with the barber shop. The spacious lobby on the main floor is furnished with 8 over stuffed leather rockers and a large davenport of the same material, writing tables, etc. The dining room has an uncrowded capacity for 32 diners. The completely equipped kitchen and four living rooms for the proprietor complete the main floor. On the second floor are the rooms for the guests, four rooms with bath and ten without. The business is conducted by O O H Underwood, an experienced hotel man. A well conducted and finely appointed hotel such as this is an incalcuable asset to any community. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ WI-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
